You could say that about every player in the country. Did they get better or just get to play more? Obviously they got better or they would have been on the court when they were freshmen. Stansbury is not so stupid he would keep a guy on the bench that could lead the team in scoring.DawgatAuburn said:I want us to be better and would like for Rick to be the one to get us there.
And I know you are not going to agree with what I say next, and that's fine.
As for current players who have not improved:
Ravern and Kodi are no different now than they were as freshmen. They just get more playing time.
You could make a pretty good case that Turner got worse this past year. Oh wait, he's not current any more.
Benock.....please.
Lewis, Riek and Twany will be good test cases. I have my money on "not improving."
Going back just a few years....it's hard to say on some of them because our turnover rate was high and some of the ones who weren't getting better bailed. Others had some injuries to fight through.
Osby - did he get better?
The Delks - one was so good when he left he went to Troy. The other rode the bench at Louisville.
Goodridge - this four star center left for LaSalle
Rimmer - Ga State (to be fair, I don't think Rimmer was high D-1 talent to start with)
This one I know you will love.
Varnado and Stewart......did they really get better? Certainly their role on the team increased as players like Rhodes, Gordon and Hansbrough left. But the things Jarvis did well as a sophomore (rebound and block shots) he did well as a senior. The things he couldn't do as a sophomore (post up and score on the block), he couldn't do as a senior. Barry was an average shooter as a sophomore, an average shooter as a senior. Couldn't finish as a sophomore, couldn't finish as a senior.
Jarvis still has no offensive game or he would be in the NBA instead of Europe. Every player will improve over 4 years in college, it's hard not to. A player gets older, stronger, and he will be playing against younger players. The question is does Stans actually develop players on offense to their potential, or is it just the natural development of each player on his own. I think it is the latter. Stans does develop players on the defensive end of the court, that's a fact I will not argue, but Stans has no clue on offense. Why do we keep losing players, just ask Osby. He was not getting the coaching he needed to develop into the college player he could be. Just imagine if Stans had not ran off Osby and Turner. We would have the best 6 man rotation in the SEC once everyone is eligible. This is the year for Stans, if he doesn't make the Sweet 16 then he never will. Look out for the RSS in an arena near you.Hanmudog said:Jarvis could barely walk and chew gum as a freshman. He damn sure could not play offense. As far as Benock and Turner, how much better were those two going to get? There is a just a ceilingfor some players.

2009-2010 we don't make the tourn.
Explain this please. Please some solid explanation.
You just disproved your own argument. Good job.fishwater99 said:Rhodes developed his mid-range jumper, why didn't SWAT?
Let's give the guy a chance to play in a few of these early games. We will be playing some pushovers early in the season and this will be the time to put Beckham out there. He sat all of last year and he may surprise people.Hanmudog said:I think Bryant will be the starting PG over Twany (jeez I hope anyway)
