1) We are opening up every position and will play whoever has the best week of practice, we will post the starting lineups after Monday Practice, Tuesday Practice etc........ bad practice no playing.
2) We are running the maximum amount of live drills that we are allowed working on hitting, tackling, testing to see who wants to be here and who is thinking about NFL.
3) Our persona whether we win or lose will be a running team. We will lean on our OL and we will lean on our 5 RBs and go with who is hot at both positions.
4) RPO is going to be a lower percentage of our offense as defenses have diagnosed that the RB gets the ball 75% of the time and are blowing it up in the backfield.
5) Our play this year will not be tolerated going forward, our coaching will not be tolerated, we will be burning redshirts if needed to turn this year around.

Lastly I would like to see James apologize to the fans for the lack of effort on behalf of the coaches and thus the players. They ask for great sums of money to help the team...... a little reflection on where we are and how we got here and most importantly what will be different to fix the problem.

Won't happen....... but would like to see James throw his phone against the wall, turn over the table and tell the reporters the truth. I would also like to see the reporters hold him accountable with questions on the last play, why is Kaytron limited in touches, is RB3 more explosive than Nick. Why did you not anticipate the safety on the punt. Why did Ross not touch the ball in the game? What are you asking your DTs to do.....they are not stopping the run and not getting pressure on the QB. Did Abdul Carter, Tyler Warren truly cover up for such disfunction on offense and defense.

Players that showed heart on Saturday: Drew, Kaytron, Shanahan, Rappalea on offense....... some of the DBs who were asked to make every tackle showed up.....front 6 nothing other than Sutton blocking a punt, when he was not blocked. I do think that Campbell is giving great effort at LB................

Worse loss since Minnessota.

Personally, I'd prefer that he doesn't broadcast our gameplan to other teams...tell the team (and actually do) what you need to tell them, but if he tells our opponents what we plan to do, then he's lost it.

How about, “I resign effective immediately.”
If he’s not resigning, I would like to hear that he’s going to move into a general manager position for PSU athletic dept, which I think he would do very well at and we can get the right head coach for PSU football. I am very intrigued by Sumrall at Tulane, Cignetti if we could pry him away from IU, and Gruden.

Id like to know why adjustments are so tough for them to make.
Never adjusted to a QB spy until late.
Ran the same plays late that had no chance of working early.
Who is at fault when DDS only move is to run up the field 6 yards and thus leave off tackle wide, wide open.
What is wrong with Zane Durant? Freak of College Football my ***.
Why on Earth, against a 0-4 team were we playing for a last second touchdown to end the half. Most teams in that situation try to score quick and maybe a shutdown for a late score.
Him to apologize and never, EVER, speak of travel again.

For the first tyime in 12 years I really could care less if he isn't the HC.

I have to admit I thought Cignetti wouldn't be that successful but he is making a believer out of me. Make JF GM of the athletic dept and in charge of fundraising for the university both academically and athletically. JF is very good speaking at events and pressing flesh getting $$$$.

I think the loss to Illinois a couple years ago was just as bad as this one

New HC would be a great start, but what I would really like to see is a top-down commitment from the board, admin, and AD to win consistently - basically, replicate the success at schools like Alabama, OSU, or even Oregon or Michigan. Penn State now isn't what Penn State was, and neither is "college" football. There needs to be a plan and commitment to it.

I think we already have that commitment - just look how we pushed all the chips in on this year.

The issue is Franklin, he's not elite.

The lots on Saturday. Just kidding.

If you are old enough, you see it all once. I've seen PSU lose dumb games before when they had more talent -- Navy, Cincinnati, some Iowa games, Illinois etc. We'll survive. Either Franklin and staff learn or they will be gone in a few years. Until then, its semi-pro football and PSU is figuring it out.

I'd also like him to address why for the past two seasons in almost every game, it takes this team a whole half, especially on offense, to wake up and start playing good football. Even on defense when we continually defer to the second half, the defense never ever gets a three and out, but usually gives up multiple first downs, preventing the offense from getting on the field until mid way through the first quarter. In general, this whole team almost never starts games on time.

Also, if you recall, this team on the road last season had bad to very bad first halfs at USC, Wisconsin and Minnesota, and really we're fortunate to win the USC and Minnesota games. In fact, the similarities between the USC and UCLA games are startling. Therefore, despite how bad and chaotic UCLA was, it really wasn't surprising to me that PSU played so incompetently in the first half; I actually posted last week that I expected this game to be similar to the 2023 Illinois and Northwestern road games, but this one obviously was much worse. The only difference is that PSU kept those other games more in reach than the UCLA game.

I hope you're right, and that's all it is. I should have specified, "a good plan and commitment to it." I agree, throwing the money at Knowles kinda shocked me, and I thought too, maybe they really are serious. But the more you see of the OC and DC hiring carousel, the more you wonder just how good these guys really are. Hopefully it is truly only Franklin that's the problem.

Good points here. I think the program has been teetering between Elite(of course never getting there) and total system failure(where we find ourselves now and 2021). There are more than a few consistent themes, some of which I thought Franklin exorcised last year, but NO. Some of those themes under Franklin:

- Slow starts in every facet almost every game( we were beating FIU 10-0 at half this year)
-Awful preparation during bye weeks, Franklin is 5-7 in such games....he likes to go on recruiting trips during the bye week, considering this is our "ALL IN" year, I was surprised he did it this year and it showed against Oregon.
-One loss becoming 2 losses
-All QB's regress and our offense becomes stale, predictable, and conservative and at some point, devolves into 3rd and 9 QB draw as our "gotta have it" play
-Generally poor offensive line play, nobody strains long in that position.

Those are a few empirical trends at this point and taken together, how are we ever going to get over the hump with these issues if they never change? For those that say the next coach might be worse, I'm amazed Penn State has been as good as they have been considering this poor coaching and trending.....it actually makes me more optimistic for the future, without Franklin.

PSU has to go all in to what College Football is now, or get left behind by OSU UM Alabama etc. Franklin still pretends they are student athletes.

Honestly, I want to see Franklin say less and do more. I think the pre-season and post-game commentary seems to put added pressure on his guys. First it's the "good to elite" speech. Then it's the "best talent I've ever assembled" this year. Now, it's having Jim Knowles talking to the team about winning a championship after losing 2 games. The 1-0 talk every week is just noise when the true message is championship or bust.

Focus on beating the tar out of Northwestern. Play the best players. Sit guys who are underperforming at practice and in games. Simplify the offensive playbook and focus on executing fewer plays.

I really do think the school is fully committed to the football program competing at the highest level. The only area I think we need a slight nudge is in the NIL category. But the NIL stuff isn't too far off - just a notch below the truly elites.

Stadium reno, facilities, coaching pool salaries, analysts, recruiting budgets, transfer portal - I think these areas are as good as they're going to get, for now.

Find a way to ditch Franklin and in Pat Kraft we believe. I think AD Kraft is the key here - he's found a way in so many other areas of the AD, now is the time to move on from Franklin and try and find the guy that can get us to the next level.

Baloney. Leaders need to think outside the box.
Okay. It’s $$$ and cents, not baloney. It’s 70M when you consider the displacements in the athletic program. A buyout like that would put the AD on the clock.

Exactly. Frankly, I no longer care what he says.
Beat Iowa. Beat Indiana. Go to Columbus and at least look like you belong on the same field.

same old crap. No real questions asked and no real problems answered. Actually these are a waste of time and money. It is almost like the media is paid to not go certain places with their questions. Add to that the fake Tough Guy JF came out today so no reporter wants to be the the Aubrey Snyder Doghouse. Was there 1, freaking 1 damn question about a spy on Nico???

The worst part is that even when he said the totally indefensible, there was no follow up, two examples:

On kaytron's underutilization, Franklin said they discussed before the game and well.....he got 8 carries. So of course the follow up would be a question why the plan wasnt executed, and who is responsible.

On the punt at the end of the game, Franklin said they anticipated a deep punt(terrible guess, no way they were going to punt there) and that they should have had someone rush the punt....well, why didnt they?

Can't belive im going to say this....I think i miss Dave Jones.

Both Steve Jones and Jack Ham stated before that punt was taken that UCLA mostly likely was going to take a safety and PSU needed to get to the punter ASAP. Anybody who knows anything about football knew that that is what UCLA was going to do, but Franklin thought that they were going to punt, which would've made no sense at all. Unbelievable.
