I am sure being little ole MSU doesnt give us a lot of power in scheduling but what difference would there have been if we had flip flopped La Tech and LSU on the schedule?
I cant remember a game where Relf just did not make 3 or 4 good runs.He has a knack for making yardage but last night he was not the same player (even if LSU is that good). I just think he was a step slow last night and from there it broke down our running game. Maybe Ballard was in the same condition. Having OL dropping like flies did not help but that short layover seemed to really hurt us offensively. And maybe Relf was just spent and that is why Russell was given a shot.

As far as Mullen is concerned, I dont know what other HCs I would take in his place. This is just his 3rd yr as a HC but he has us excited, he is gathering players who want to be at MSU and if we continue to get better as a team, then better players who want to be at MSU will come and our depth will improve.

But back to the subject line.....just how do we end up playing Auburn and LSU back to back with 4 days rest?

I believe if our schedule had been this it would have been much more favorable... especially bringing the young guys up to speed. Would our record still have been the same?

9/1 - @ Memphis
9/10 - @ Auburn
9/17 - La Tech
9/22 - LSU
10/1 - @ UGA

And FWIW, I'm taking my son to see his first MSU game against La Tech. And we're right back where we were when I attended - unranked and with a losing record.
