After watching Slickdawg's videos on You Tube, I'm wondering If Sherrill had kept the fires burning and maintained control would we have a SEC championship under our belts by now? Just thinking.

The NCAA, the SEC, and especially Prehistoric Miss all had it out for him. Remember the SI headline when he was hired? "What price Glory?"

For some reason or another, the national media loathed the guy....whether he had Pitt competitive with the beloved Joe Pa, or that A & M regularily tapped that Texass Shorthorn every year, or whatever, a lot of folks had it out for him.

Even if he didn't have all the personal tragedies in his life occur, I think that eventually the NCAA (with Rick Johanneigmeier having that Gay tryst with that Dude from Madison County), Ancient Miss with its 100 PI's and $500,000 spent on investigating every little thing he did, to the lamestream media always saying he was the most crooked coach in America, eventually they'd have broken Sherrill anyway.

It was so funny...for 5 years, you'd hear "Rebel-fan" saying "Th' Cow Collige wuz gawn git 'th deth penlty. served them thar raidnaiks raht". Then, when the penalties WERE handed out, it was such piddling and petty **** it was hard to believe anyone would put that much effort into such stuff.. TRANSLATED-MState was kicking everybody's *** and the rest of the SEC didn't like it.
