Only thing that I can think of is that he is going old school like the SWAC coaches in the early '80's, & they held nothing back, they were always taking verbal shots at each other. Still, open mouth re-insert foot

is that he desperately wants State to beat the ever living **** out of them and run the score up as much as possible to erase any goodwill media attention that State will receive for being the first SEC team to play a SWAC "team"

But more than likely, he is just an idiot.

Do I think scheduling JSU was a good move? Yes. Do I think we should ever play them again? No. Have I ever had any ill will toward JSU or Rick Comegy? No. Do I now? Yes. Are we all through interviewing ourselves? Yes.

and he is and idiot.

OR this is just the way this guy thinks. Somebody needs to ask him that if he thinks all that, does he think his AD sucks at negotiating contracts. My guess is he would be dubmass enough to say, "Yes."

In his mind he's thinking this is a big game- almost like a Classic where the revenue is split at a neutral site. Unfortunately for him, reality is this is a creampuff opener for State at State's campus. It is a big game only because SWAC/ SEC hasn't been done before.

Florida is paying Charleston S. $450K this year. Georgia is paying New Mexico State $900K in 2011.

That's probably where he's coming from.

Of course, we all know that Davis Wade = 55K fans X $35 face = 1.9 mil, of which JSU is getting a little over 15% of the gate.

Ben Hill Griffen = 88K fans X $40 face = 3.5 mil, of which Charleston is getting 13% of the gate

Sanford = 92K fans X $80 face (typically) = 7.3 mil, of which New Mexico State is getting 12% of the gate.

So, I'd say we're doing them a solid, since by that we should only give JSU around $250K. If he wants more, see if Florida will schedule them.

(and I mean that more than you know), the increase in attendance due to JSU will be greater than those games you quoted. Those stadiums will be near sell out regardless of who they play. We will have a larger crowd because of JSU.

bitched for years about not getting a return game in Jackson.
I was at this game. I desperately hope the J-State fans don't do to "The Jewel" what they did to Hattiesburg that night. It was a complete lack of class and I hope that is not the case this time around.

The SE LA game last year was ~42K. Flabloser has already called the JSU game at 50K, so there you go.

8,000 delta * $35 = $280K. Seems like we paid SE LA $150K, so that's $115K that their AD left on the table.

We are screwing JSU.

with the "purse" that his team and school are getting, don't show up and we won't pay them. If it's such an insult to mighty JSU.

His team is a crappy I-AA team. Yes, they have some history with Payton and etc., but that doesn't change the fact that this is a I-AA team- and a team that got their asses kicked by Delta State at home a couple of years ago. We're the ones doing them a favor because we could certainly could have chosen to not schedule them. They should be thankful that they are getting what they are from us. Especially when it looks like to me we could have had someone like SELU for a lot less.

And yes, if they bring more fans than a normal I-AA team that will help us out, but based on their ticket sales so far, that remains to be seen. And it could happen, but it still remains to be seen.

We sold at least 5,000 more season tickets this year than we did last year. JSU only sold about 2,000 tickets for this game. So if you take 2,000 * $35 = $70,000. And the $250K we gave SELA last year + $70K JSU sold = $320,000. Which is only $5,000 more than what JSU is getting for this game.
