What is Everyone's Predicted Outcome?

If Fenwick wins this, does ESL ask for more time to prepare? Not fair to ask them to prepare to play two teams, I'm sure they are focused on PFN right now. Both PFN & Fenwick know who they would have to play. Also does it matter, ESL puts this whole issue to bed Saturday night when they win by 20.

The whole thing is messed up. You have one team that thought they won the game and they didn't. Then the game goes in to overtime. Fenwick scored first. Then Plainfield North scored. They get the two point conversion. So if the defense stopped them on the conversion, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. But the rule stated that game should have concluded on the final play of regulation and an untied down should not be awarded. Then right after that it says the decision of a game official shall be final, protests against the decision of a game official shall not be reviewed by The Board of Directors. It's messed up how it went down. You can't go back on the rule 2, even though rule one was not called correctly.

The court rules in favor of PN and they play on Saturday, ESL beats PN, and ESL dedicates their win to Fenwick, doing the only decent thing that anyone in this mess has done, to date.

Not arguing right or wrong, I just don't see any scenario where Fenwick supplants PLN Saturday. Its probably either PLN or no game.

I predict game is delayed then cancelled!
The IHSA has to much to lose to lose this battle.
It comes down to who is in charge. Who has the final say.

I don't think they can delay the game. when and where would the game be played?
I think if they did cancel the game.
esl has a very legitimate beef, to move forward in law suit against fenwick.
how can they rip the chance of playing for a state championship away from a team.
especially after just that same feeling and then let it happen again to another team.
why wouldn't they just just bow out or forfeit.

I see Fenwick, fully dressed, helmets on, and Craig Anderson standing in the doorway of Memorial Stadium refusing to let them enter. State troopers will be standing to both sides of him, in their Smoky Bear hats, staring menacingly at the crowd of players, hands on pistols. Then, US Marshalls will be directed to arrest them, at which time they'll step aside.

PN plays. As someone pointed out it's a holiday weekend. Pols know to release bad info when nobody is watching / are distracted. After this weekend this will all evaporate, except for the Friar fans and those of us who enjoy all aspects of HS FB, good and bad.

Plainfield plays.

ESL wins by two scores

The IHSA is hated even more now then ever.

An Illinois State Representative or State Senator has hearings again on IHSA finances.

The Plainfield North coach is shunned by other coaches outside his immediate group of friends.

It will take three years or so for a new group of players to filter thru the PN team before they get the cloud off of the school thanks to the head coaches attitude.

I honestly don't understand the negative attitude directed towards the PFN coach. Even if he and the PFN administration vacated the victory and gave it to Fenwick, the IHSA would not allow Fenwick to play. The guy is respecting the decision the member association (IHSA) made regarding the outcome of the game. He is preparing his team to play on Saturday.

My hope: PFN plays. Life is tough, people make mistakes, the IHSA by-laws (though seemingly flawed in this case) make the decision clear.

My fear: ESL gets screwed (again) out of a chance to play and the game gets canceled.

How do you know if the IHSA would not let Fenwick play if PN did the right thing. They have a TV contract to fulfill.

PN would be national hero's if they did the right thing.

It's the coaches comment that his team won without acknowledging that there should have never been another play that galls me.

But in the end he has to live with decision not me. If they play and upset ESL the trophy is tainted.

I wonder if the school gets a curse like the cubs did???

If Fenwick truly pursues this through then IHSA cancels the 7A game and points at Fenwick as the bad guys.

If they forced PFN to forfeit the game, one school's heartbroken coaches, kids, and fans would grow into three schools that are heartbroken. IHSA would dig themselves into an even deeper hole than they already are in.

PFN vs. ESL should be played as scheduled.

PN plays but ESL is the one screwed because they finally put a world beater out there and will somehow have to "apologize" for winning the trophy they likely would have won all along.

7A game gets cancelled and ESL is crowned 7A champs. If I'm Fenwick, I do everything in my power to prevent PFN from playing in the state title.

That's a very odd way of looking at this.

Sorry, as some who does even like Fenwick since they begged out of the CCL blue your off base. It's like your blaming a crime victim for pursuing charges. Then blaming them when the bad guy goes to jail. See what you did to the young man!

I think the train has left the station, unfortunately for the friars. But you never know. Could you imagine esl getting screwed a second year in a row if game is out right cancelled, I certainly couldn't.

The forces of truth, justice and the American way prevail and Fenwick plays and upsets the Flyers in an epic battle that goes down to the wire.
The Friar QB with 5 seconds left and his team leading 14-13 again throws the ball away.
This time EVERYONE on the field and in the stands knows the rule. :)
But the IHSA decides to void the win because Fenwick is wearing the wrong color uniform.
And the debates begin anew...........

I'm quite certain this game will be the focus of one of those Replay games years down the line the way that Rice-Bloom basketball game was.

No, you are way off base, sir. Your analogy makes no sense. PN isn't the bad guy. Fenwick fans trying to make PN out to be the bad guy has turned PN into the victim and Fenwick the bad guy.

Maybe we could chip up and buy some comfort dogs for you and the PN "victims". Maybe make the title game a safe zone. Maybe have a group cry before the game. Some play dough for you. Some crayons and coloring books?

Sorry there all in short demand at college campuses.

Fenwick got screwed. Plainfield North coach can't see the trees because the forest is in the way. He and his players can do the right thing a forfeit. The Trib article condenses the facts into a nice package.

There is only one way threw the IHSA's mess to come out a winner for Plainfield.

Hilarious that your life isn't fair rant is more applicable to Fenwick than PN. Grow up and move on. You aren't going to get your way on this one.

We will see what the court say since there is no honor at PN. I guess suburban privilege is alive and well. Everyone gets a trophy if you deseve it or not. And if you happen to win the title game it will forever be considered undeserving. There is no honor in that.

EVERYONE LOSES

Welcome to 60 minutes IHSA

#NotMyStateAthleticAssociation

I'm not a big fan of the IHSA either and I agree that they have handled things poorly, but just playing devil's advocate, would ANY association overturn the results of a game, ever? Especially when a whole overtime session was played out after the fact? I remember Justin Verlander was one out from a perfect game a few years ago and the ump wrongly called a guy safe at first in the 9th with 2 outs. The ump and the MLB admitted wrongdoing but would not overturn the call. Verlander handled it with dignity and class.

The NCAA didn't change the results of the CMU/OSU game under the same circumstances if I recall.

Once again your rant applies to Fenwick and not PN. I think you have had enough. Maybe sit the next couple of plays out.
