What is going on @ TF North?

I seen where TF North forfeited last night to Evergreen Park.I read about the mess with their Coach.Didn't say why he was suspended but I did see where he seemed to have a lot of support. So did the team revolt against whoever suspended him & decided not to play? More so I thought they had a shot to beat a equally matched Evergreen Park team & that would have put Thornton in the playoffs so I am sure Thornton wasn't happy about that being the first team out.A TFN win also would have added a playoff point to some schools though not sure if that would have changed any seeds.

TFN used an ineligible player. EP gets forfeit win. TFN wouldn't have made it with a W.

I know TFN would not have gotten in with a win.So I’m guessing the Coach got suspended for playing a ineligible player. He must have done it knowingly? They didn’t have to forfeit any of their wins as the IHSA site did not reflect that.So why did they not play the game vs Evergreen Park? They hadn’t played the game yet on Friday so the ineligible player would have no bearing.Had they played & TFN won that gives Thornton another playoff point & puts them in the playoffs.Instead TFN decided not to play so that cost Thornton

  1. When you said Thornton, I assumed you meant Thorton Fractional North.
  2. The coach was suspended Weeks 6 and 7. LINK
  3. Knowingly?
  4. They played EP.
  5. Nope.
  6. Show me how Thornton gets a playoff point via a TFN win.
  7. Nope.
  8. These devices we're using can be used to obtain verifiable information.

From my understanding, they (TFN & EP) played Friday night but TFN used one or multiple players that played in the Sophomore game right before the varsity game. I believe that is against conference rules. Not sure if IHSA rules apply to that situation. Anyways, I think that TFN won the game but had to forfeit for using those Sophs.

thank you.i know they posted the 2-0 fairly early friday night.someone told me thornton played tf north when in fact it was thornwood earlier in the year so no bearing on playoff points for them. However had the EP loss stood then Thornton would be in and EP out

Glad we were able to clarify this thorny misunderstanding.

Turn of events: The scoreboard from Week 9 read T.F. North 17, Evergreen Park 7 when the final horn sounded.

T.F. North, however, had a player compete in the varsity and junior varsity game on the same day, which is a conference rules violation.

It resulted in T.F. North forfeiting the game. So instead of being 4-5, Evergreen Park finished 5-4 and qualified for the playoffs.

The 16th-seeded Mustangs play top-seeded Payton (9-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a 5A playoff opener at Lane Stadium.

“I’m proud of the way our kids continued to fight and look forward to what comes next,” Evergreen Park coach Jerry Verde said.

Calls to T.F. North principal Dr. Dwayne Evans and athletic director Omari Garrett were not returned.

I spoke with somebody at TFN and supposedly EP told them since they weren't in the same conference(different divisions) that it was ok.Similar thing happened in the Prep Bowl Playoffs.Gordon Tech was killing Leo.Leo cried about running up the score so GT asked if they could play lowerclassmen as since it was a Prep Bowl game they weren't clear on the rule.Leo said ok then turned them in and GT had to forfeit the game.It got ugly between the 2 for awhile

Did not happen.

EP defeated Payton tonight rather easily. Not a good sign for Kenwood.
