What is holding up the defensive backs coach hire?

Mitchell left us late in the game. The candidate pool is probably small. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone already on staff just coach the corners this year.

I think that is a valid possibility. This late in the year, finding then hiring a viable DB's coach appears to be going very slow.

University of Charleston head coach Pat Kirkland has interviewed for the defensive backs job at WVU. Kirkland was a defensive assistant at WVU for five seasons including the cornerbacks coach in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. He took over as head coach at Charleston in 2011. Chip West and a defensive assistant from the University of Memphis have also been mentioned. Kirkland may very well be the front runner.

Well, we were set to hire Pac Man but he was worried about the stability of the program.

No pool cue discipline? What has the world come to.

Greg Hunter was talking about it on Sportsline last night. He didn't mention a name but the fellow had been interviewed and it was simply a matter of how long the formalities, ie; a background check and other red tape were going to take.

It is a bit strange that Gibby said, after the Mitchell defection, that a new coach would be hired a week later and what's it been now? 2-3 weeks?

Funniest and most outlandish rummer ive heard this past couple weeks.

"Nick Saban will be the next assistant hired and become a HC in waiting." --

It's true. I checked flight tracker and plane landed in Morgantown from Tuscaloosa just yesterday!

We were in no rush and we are breaking in at least 4 new (or relatively) new corners. I'm sore we wanted to do our due diligence and see who we could get. Not like recruiting is a major factor right now, and as long as they're here for spring ball we're golden.

Hell if we're gonna have to settle I'd just assume ask Lamont Wade who he wants o coach him at WVU and sign em up.
