Help me understand what you’re talking about. He had a player option with the Lakers.
Someones who's not using the Government to line his pockets and oppress others.
He's still working on trying to be a well below average team leader.
I have never watched it and is ignorant on most NBA stuff. I thought he retired and watching ESPN go on about what he was doing got me to wonder what he was doing. Why I asked the question. I think I got it figured out now.
James opting in for his final year of the contract allows him to be traded before Dec 15. If he had opted out and signed a new contract, he wouldnt be trade eligible.
He can then 'explore options' while the Lakers also 'explore options' and once the dust settles he may still be with the Lakers or may be traded. Who knows on that- its the Lakers and they are more dramatic that a bus full of teen girls.

I'm hopeful with new ownership maybe the franchise can recover from Dr. Buss's idiot children. The franchise went to sh*t when he died.
