Cal knew it was time and had plenty of coaching opportunities elsewhere, Stool does not.He was able to rid us of Cal without paying him a penny....despite a lifetime contract. I trust MB to do something similar with Stoopsid.
Ummm, Mitch literally went on TV 2 days before Cal left voicing his support for the guy. We got lucky with Cal, nobody wants StoopsHe was able to rid us of Cal without paying him a penny....despite a lifetime contract. I trust MB to do something similar with Stoopsid.
Yes he did. Mitch called his bluff because of Cal contacting Ohio St. Mitch knew he had him by the balls and Cal had to save face somehow, so he went to Ark.But Cal QUIT. He wasn't terminated. He quit despite having a "lifetime contract". A contract that the BDS infected among us said we were stuck with him for life. I still haven't seen apologies from all the haters who were WRONG. Mitch got rid of Cal and he will do the same to Stoopids.
Thank gawd he did. I couldn't stand looking at Cal for the last 4 years he disgraced our sidelines. He was "saved" only by all of our fans who believed wrongly...this next class we have signed will be different. Same results, first round losses...but of course there was always another #1 or #2 class he had on the way. Most of our fans still believed that 18-yo HS kids could beat men. Cal failed because he either believed that his old ways could win, or he just could not sell his BS to portal men who knew that the NBA was not in their future.Yes he did. Mitch called his bluff because of Cal contacting Ohio St. Mitch knew he had him by the balls and Cal had to save face somehow, so he went to Ark.
One likely scenario is this. We finish 3-9 or 4-8. They offer Stoops $29 Mil buyout to leave. That's the current buyout minus next seasons salary.Assuming Stoops is here for 2026, what would the buyout be? We know it is $38 million after this season so if he comes back next year, 2026, what will it cost to buy him out after the 2026 season?
That would require Barnhart being the bad guy. He’s rather ruin UK athletics than do that! One likely scenario is this. We finish 3-9 or 4-8. They offer Stoops $29 Mil buyout to leave. That's the current buyout minus next seasons salary.
If he says no, let him know that all the NIL money and the revenue share money will be held and will not be used to pay any players. So he can suffer through that and make himself essentially unnoticeable in the profession or take the cash and move on.
Big difference between Cal and Stoops though. Hated Cal at the end but he at least won a title and still was viewed by many as a decent coach. But nobody thinks Stoops is a good coach lol. Stoops isn't gonna have a team trying to snag him as their HC from us.He was able to rid us of Cal without paying him a penny....despite a lifetime contract. I trust MB to do something similar with Stoopsid.
I agree. The AD has the abillity to snuff out the coach despite the longevity of the contract by taking control of the NIL, the assistants and the rest of the program. He can make it miserable for Stoopid to exist as Head Coach. What coach wants to be humiliated in the SEC because his administration is choking him out. Come to a settlement and move on. That will be his best option. One likely scenario is this. We finish 3-9 or 4-8. They offer Stoops $29 Mil buyout to leave. That's the current buyout minus next seasons salary.

It would go down by 75% of his yearly salary. So 9m x 4.5 x.75 = 30.375m. I think his salary go up a small amount so a bit more. The 4.5 is for the years remaining on his contract assuming he is fired effective Jan 1, 2027.
You don’t enjoy your job. Most of the people in the company don’t like you. But you have a guaranteed contract for $38,000,000 if you can just suck it up and show up to work. Doesn’t matter how good a job you do.I'm wondering if anyone here has been involved in negotiating stuff like this before? Realistically I can't see Stoops wanting to keep eating all this heat. What type of deal could be worked out to separate that mostly benefits both parties? Does UK not have attorney's that can fight this? You are telling me that there is absolutely no loop hole or wiggle room that would at least force a reasonable negotiation?
Well Alan Cutler reported that Stoops tried to negotiate with Mitch after the Tennesse game last year but Mitch wasn't having it so there is that. It's all over X. The question is do we really want Mitch negotiating with anyone or structuring anything at this point? You don’t enjoy your job. Most of the people in the company don’t like you. Would you quit?
Makes sense to me, we can't afford any buyout right now. UK cannot afford to make mistakes in this new era.Well Alan Cutler reported that Stoops tried to negotiate with Mitch after the Tennesse game last year but Mitch wasn't having it so there is that. It was never a lifetime contract. It was a 10 year $86 million contract that would have ran through 2029. Mitch didn’t get rid of him either, he just left. Y’all blindly believe message board rumors with no facts to back it up.He was able to rid us of Cal without paying him a penny....despite a lifetime contract. 100% of that is made up nonsense.Ninety nine percent of that was Cals stupidity though.
Some people may know than you think they do . And I didn’t get my info from the internet.100% of that is made up nonsense.
That's it right there big dawg. I show up to a job I don't like for $21 a Hour. If I'm on the hook for 38 mil I would include I hope they fire me tomorrow in my nightly prayers. No way does any sane person be like nah keep your 38 million dollars i'm out. He might be a dunderhead of a FB coach but he's not completely stupid and I don't blame him so much as I blame the contract. You don’t enjoy your job. Most of the people in the company don’t like you. Without question- two horrendous contracts where the coaches had this university by the balls and nothing of value being produced.Barnhart needs to be gone as well
Can’t afford not to buy him out. The fan base stops buying things, going to games it’llMakes sense to me, we can't afford any buyout right now. UK cannot afford to make mistakes in this new era.
I use their language to prove a point. The lifetime contact description was a fiction. It was never a lifetime contract. It was a 10 year $86 million contract that would have ran through 2029. Mitch didn’t get rid of him either, he just left. Y’all blindly believe message board rumors with no facts to back it up.
The only reason Cal left is because the Arkansas job was waiting for him. There is no way Cal would have just walked away from that buyout money otherwise. He was able to rid us of Cal without paying him a penny....despite a lifetime contract. I trust MB to do something similar with Stoopsid.
