Do I need to worry a little less about our corners for next season? Are they able to stick with their man better than the previous regime or was last night the result of a good zone defensive plan?

Putting in the Freshmens has improved the defense. Apparently, they're getting used to the speed of college football. The Defensive backfield is the most improved unit on the team.

A Fred Smoot (who couldn't use a Fred Smoot), Anthony Johnson, Charlie Davidson, or to a lesser degree - a Kevin Dockery (who is doing better in the NFL than he did most of his career at State).

People seemed to think he must not be any good since he didn't come in as a true freshman & win the starting job - they don't seem to realize he was playing 1A ball last year. That's an huge step, 1A ball to starting safety in the SEC. He went from the lowest of MS highschool ball to playing against the best college football has to offer. I really like his height combined with athleticism - he may be our only DB over 6ft.

Broomfield has been a surprise - I never expected him to be any better than Watson or Anderson. But maybe he'll turn out to be decent. And I think Langston will turn out to be our best CB after he gets a little experience there. Am I correct in thinking he didn't play DB in junior college?
