What kills me is that you people are defending a coach...

that admitted openly that they hadnt worked on their zone offense before the first game. But if Mullen would have said they hadnt worked on pass-blocking before the first game or that Cohen said they hadnt gone over baserunning before their 1st game, the entire board would be up in arms about it...

does that every year. I don't know why he does it that way, but he does.

And yeah, it hurts us early in the season sometimes.

Hell, we've only been practicing for about 2 months now. No need to rush working on an entire phase of the game. Rick say he has until mid-January to get everything installed. The non-con schedule is just practice anyway. Surely no opponent would zone us in practice.

The board is pretty much ready to fire him save a few posters here and there.

Secondly, with you there are only extremes. Either one hates Stansbury, gloats when he loses, is waiting for him to ultimately fail so he can pat himself on the back (this is you), or one will say Stans = Coach K, he can do no wrong, everything is does is perfect, etc. Have you ever considered some of us fall somewhere in between (this is me). I like Stansbury and think firing him would be a very bad move right now. I also think he's done a very good job here. That said, the man has his shortcomings. Yes, his offense against a zone has always been problematic. Yes, his substitution patterns are strange at the least and just plain down dumb at the worst. When have I ever said Stansbury was perfect and could do no wrong? In fact there have been times, like now, when I've said he needs to get it together and quick. There have been times when I have said he is doing a bad job. The difference is I, unlike you, realize that he is the most successful coach in school history at reaching the NCAAs and you can't just get rid of him on a whim. As much grief as we gave OM for firing Cutcliffe, firing Stans would be worse. I'm not happy with losing this game, but I also don't want to jump to conclusions. I'd rather wait and see what plays out. I don't know why some of you aren't more patient. If the man ultimately fails, our AD will replace him. If he doesn't, great we would be winning. Seriously, calm down.

always starts off slow and i am sick of it. Kodi is right in everything he says and KUDO's for him having the balls to say it. No way in hell we should get our *** beat at home to a lower tier school. Yes I was at the Game and waited till this morning to ***** and i am still mad as hell.

Wow, a reasonable, thought out post. May be the best post I've seen. Why is it all or nothing? Sure Stans has shortcomings, but essentially is a little better than Nutt was at arky or Cut was at OM b/c he has won a little more consistently.
We are a very, very successful program. The expectations are a little too high this year, but it's kind of like OM in football this year, should we be disappointed if we don't win the SEC or SEC West even if we go 9-7/10-6 in SEC play and get a 7-9 seed in the NCAA's??? Disappointed maybe, but you've still got to realize that you're having success and eventually you might break through.

"admitted openly that they hadnt worked on their zone offense before the first game." Where did he say that? I could be wrong, but I doubt this is true.

Say what you want, but we didn't lose this because we couldn't handle the zone, we lost this game because of defense.

I have defended Stans in the past, but this particular issue drives me nuts. He uses this excuse ever year. He used it a couple of years back when we lost to Syracuse who everyone on the planet knows runs a zone defense. He might as well be saying we had trouble with the zone defense because "I haven't been doing my job". What makes it even worse is that HE'S GOT THE SAME $@@*#++ TEAM HE HAD LAST YEAR!!! DID THEY NOT GO OVER ATTACKING A ZONE LAST YEAR EITHER???

As usaul the tools come out. I was disappointed but we were bad on defense. Jarvis got head faked to death and Kodi guarded nobody. It is easy to blame the coach but I have faitht hat our defense will get better and we looked like a team not focused last night. Did they read the press? probably, but Rider shot the ball very well and it was mostly because we didn't defend. They had 6 turnovers so we got nothing in transition. If it continues, I'll be worried but I can't see that happening.

it said nothing about offense losing the game for us. It did however, refer to that fact that our coach had our team unprepared as we entered our first game. That is inexcuseable. I don't understand how you dont cover that facet of your offense. What the hell do they do at practice? Because we don't really have much of a man offense either. Apparently, we arent spending alot of time on defense with that performance last night

Would be like Mullen saying after the game tonight- "well, we didnt work on our passing offense the last 2 weeks before Alabama"....how stupid would that sound?
