...he'd get about as much credit as Orgeron is getting in Oxford. The only difference is that Orgeron left his successor with something to work with.

I don't think we're winning a lot next year, regardless of the coach. We need an infusion of talent at oline, dline, and wide receiver.

People figured out it was all Stoops after a couple of years. If Croom takes another head coaching job, it will be just like Willingham with ND. No one gives him any credit for Weiss' early success now they've got a body of work of his at Washington.
I discussed this in a thread earlier today. One difference is that Orgeron kept his mouth shut after the firing. I guarantee that Croom will TAKE the credit if we win with a new coach. I can just hear Croom telling a reporter:
"I left that program in great shape. I knew that we would have gone to a bowl in 2009 and 2010 if Byrne had let me stay. We were so close in 2008 from having a winning record. We just had some injuries and missed assignments. This new coach is reaping the benefits of my hard work and the solid foundation that I laid"
If our new coach is successful, Croom will try to take a ton of the credit.
