What old song would be canceled, if it was released today?

This has been highly entertaining and hilarious. But I would also like to thank each and every one of you for planting the Walk on the Wild Side ear worm in my head. Have been walking around the office for two days now humming "do do doo, doo doo do doo doo", etc., etc.

And . . . right on cue, guess what song comes on the radio when I am driving to work? Valium would have helped that stash . . .

Doesn't it make you wonder whether there are potentially great songs/artists that aren't seeing the light of day due to the current culture? You're right - we didn't miss out on some great music from the past. But who's to say we're not missing out now due to cancel culture? You don't see the danger in an arbitrary standard of what's acceptable in a free society? And, agree with the other poster - why post in a thread that you feel is ridiculous? I skip probably 98% of all threads without even opening them, especially the ones I think are ridiculous.
It has literally never been easier for bands to self publish their music. Why would we be missing out on anything at this point? Where is music cancelled?

Just from the Stones catalog:
Brown Sugar
*****
Stupid Girl
Under My Thumb
Some Girls
Little T&A
Short and Curlies
Stray Cat Blues
And many others...

Turning Japanese
Island Girl (Elton John)
Hit Me With Your Best Shot
I'm a Boy - The Who

Hell, most of Kiss, AC/DC catalogs. A bunch of rock songs would never be allowed today. And think how much great music we'd have missed out on.
I think Turning Japanese would be a hit. The Vapors were ahead of their time.

Lola is very woke, transgender man hitting on another man, who finds he is attracted to her/him
Didnt they have to change the original words to that song before it was even released? Seems like Coca Cola filed a trademark suit over the original words.

This one is even worse. Basically an ode to pedophiles everywhere:

I always wondered why women loved Conway so much. Then I really listened to that song. It was basically 50 Shades of Grey and Softcore all mixed into a song, at that time. Carol in the secretary pool probably needed a new chair after listening to it.

Buy honestly, would any song be banned nowadays, considering all the violent, filthy lyrics in rap that is now mainstream?
Maybe some songs might be banned if they contained a conservative right wing message.

Honestly? I never heard that.

Truth: We named our female dog Lola, who looks really sweet, but is actually aggressive as hell with most every dog she meets, really doesn't like a lot of people either tbh. She finally quit barking like crazy at my mom after about five years, I guess she slowly figured out the old lady is harmless and somehow belongs to us in some way. She may not be the smartest canine in the world either.

They would have to change this one to "Hispanic Radio" to be remotely acceptable.

You're behind on your PC. This reeks of White Supremacy!

The latest "progressive" term for Mexican's is "LatinX". These social engineering leftist idiots have a problem with Romantic languages that have gender built in to nouns (I.E. Latina/Latino). LOL, what a load of crap. Oh, and Hispanics hate the term LatinX.

LatinX Wiki excerpt:

The term was first seen online around 2004. It has later been used in social media by activists, students, and academics who seek to advocate for individuals living on the borderlines of gender identity. Surveys of Hispanic and Latino Americans have found that most prefer other terms such as Hispanic and Latina/Latino to describe themselves, and that only 2 to 3 percent use Latinx.[1][2] A 2020 Pew Research Center survey found that 23% of U.S. adults who self-identified as Hispanic or Latino were aware of the term Latinx, and that of those, 65% said it should not be used to describe their racial or ethnic group.[2][3]

Supporters say it promotes greater acceptance of non-binary Latinos by being gender-neutral and thus inclusive of all genders.[4][5] Critics say the term does not follow traditional grammar, is difficult to pronounce, and is disrespectful toward conventional Spanish;[6] the Royal Spanish Academy style guide does not recognize the suffix -x.[7] Both supporters and opponents have cited linguistic imperialism as a reason for supporting or opposing the use of the term.[6]

I have never understood the infatuation for Madonna. She is quite horrible as a singer and entertainer IMO.

Yeah. Nobody SAYS they like the hooker even if they want the services. She's just the first hooker who got this kind of publicity before anyone knew she was a hooker
