What possible justification is there keeping Beamer at this point?

Where we are now, the 9-win season from last year might as well be a thousand years ago. He has stacked bad on top of bad since last season.

He retained one of the worst OL coaches in the country AND gave him a huge raise, only to be forced to fire him midsesaon.

He made a mind boggling OC by selecting a man who had never called plays in college.

Those two decisions formed the foundation for the total undoing of this season.

Now, on top of all of that, we have one of the most embarrassing losses in our program's history, if not the most. What was most shocking was how easy it was for A&M to come back and win the game. It tells you it was not coaching that was getting it done in the first half. A&M was just playing like poop and we were taking advantage of it. Once they got their act together, we were toast.

If we had any semblance of seriousness about us, this would be a back-breaker loss. It's as stunning and humiliating a defeat as I can recall. We were thoroughly impotent. I don't see how Donati has any choice.

Nobody can offer one single reason after this game why Beamer should be retained, other than we simply don't care about succeeding at football.

27 million dollars for our athletic department is most definitely a justification. We definitely are not Texas A&M or LSU. There ain't any billionaires I am aware of affiliated with our program.
Nope. It's an excuse for losers.

It'll cost us much more to keep him in the long run. Every year you keep him, you set the program back 5 years.

The Auburn strategy exactly. Replacing a coach ain't easy. Especially when your school has sucked historically.
lol, so the alternative is to just keep a sucky coach? If given the choice between guaranteed failure (keeping Beamer) and probably failure (hiring a new coach), I'd take the latter 1,000 times out of 1,000.

Invest the money in something we can win at. How much are 5 5 star basketball players?

There are plenty of G5 or even FCS guys who are better head coaches. We are not shopping on the same aisle as those programs, so those openings are really irrelevant as it pertains to us.
Well I keep hearing people throw out James Franklin, so at least some people are shopping in the same aisle.

Real coaches aren't ready for their career to end in 5 years. Unless they are coming out of retirement.
Franklin won at Vandy, and that was pre-portal and guys playing for 20 years.

He can win at least much here as he did there.

Fire Beamer and we will be having this same discussion again in 5 years just with a different coach.

Totally agree. And I see that one of the national guys called out Beamer for poor coaching.

His halftime interview was clownish and bush league. When I heard that on the radio my first thought was this clown is going to lose this game. He did.....

When we are winning games, it's semi-tolerabe. When we are losing, it's painful to listen to his half-time and post-game interviews. I refuse to listen to his post game interviews.

I would agree with you if Beamer had prior, successful Head Coaching experience. Instead, we rolled the dice on someone who had never even been thought highly enough to be made an OC or DC, much less a Head Coach. What is shocking is we settled for Beamer, hoping he was like Frank, after rolling the dice on a proven failure of a Head Coach (Muschamp). It's as if the hiring authorities at USC are trying to destroy the football program on purpose, knowing that the fan base will still spend money on the program, no matter what.

I wonder if the coaching staff sits together and watches tape of the games with no players in the room and look at each other and say "geez, these guys are really bad"? Beamer, no coach for that matter, is ever going to come out in a press conference and say "Look; the reality is, we really don't have a very talented team this year. These guys just aren't that good. We're getting the best we can out of them".

I'd love to hear it.

This season has been a disaster, this isn't just about Ole Miss. He is missing open receivers, holding onto the ball, fumbling in key situations... I can't imagine a world where he leaves for the NFL.

After being a fan for 60 years I'm not really surprised by this loss, and tats the point.

I wonder if Kansas St had that attitude when they hired Bill Snyder or Indiana when the hired their current coach or Glorida State when they hired Bobby Bowden. There are many examples of historically losing schools that changed their fortunes when they hired the right guy.Carolina can have a winning program. But not with our current HC.

We’ve all seen it all, so that argument rings hollow. Whether you’ve been a fan for 20 years 30 years 40 years 50 years 60 years or 70 years, you’ve seen the same product.

i’ve seen all the same crappy football you have seen, but there is crappy and then there is historically crappy. SEC teams are 286–1 in games where they had a 27 point halftime lead. We are the one.

Nobody can say they’ve seen us lose like this because nobody ever has lost like this in the SEC before today.

Justification yes
Reality no
Too many openings at better options/programs
