The majority of Americans prefer baseball over soccer easily. The only reason there was any interest is because it's an event that takes place every 4 years. Between that time you very seldomly hear soccer mentioned. That and the fact that the American team actually made past the first round. And while I didn't watch it, I was still rooting for the US to win and represent our country well. Yes I agree baseball can be boring if your watching two teams that you don't really care for...therefore you have no interest in the game. And professional sports of any kind are just not that interesting to me but baseball is the most tolerable. College sports are where its at period. As somebody already said soccer games end in ties, last entirely too long, lucky if 3 goals are scored a game. Soccer doesn't necessarily take a lot of skill to be successful. But I will say I couldn't run around for that long. Now I never played soccer so I guess I just don't have a true appreciation for it. Soccer will never be a "Big" sport in the United States. Someone mentioned in another thread that attendance at MLB baseball games have been declining the last couple of years....it's the called a recession people. But still the top 10 teams are averaging 40,000 people per home game(each team plays 81 home games a season) that's nearly 4,000,000 people per team season attendance, not bad...just saying. Everyone can always put baseball down but somehow year in and year out it is 2nd next to football in average attendance. But just because I don't like soccer don't everyone else don't...and the same case for others and baseball. It's a personal preference, to each his own. I just prefer baseball. I'm done with my rant so.....FIRE AWAY!
