I don't know if this was posted anywhere or not, but I had an Ole Miss fan tell me at church that one of his Ole Miss buddies told him it was going to be Mike Justice. He said his buddy was serious to. We both got a laugh out of that.

I had one guy tell me that we had offered, and were turned down by Peterson, Tubby, Dooley, Wilson, one other that I can't recall and that we were still looking. This was Wednesday night after we had announced Mullen.

I think it is pretty obvious nobody knew what the hell was going on. Those were all rumors with nothing coming from the mouth of the one who knew. There is no doubt we talked with other coaches, and discussed terms, but I am going to believe Byrne. He said Meyer and AD asked him not to make contact until after the SEC champ game. Meyer even spilled the beans early in the process. The other coaches may have just been due dilligence. i.e, interviewing Gill. The first formal offer ws to Mullen.
