They named interim coach Ray Harper the permanent coach. Dude can flat out coach a basketball team<div>
  • 346-63 in 12 seasons at the D2 and NAIA levels
  • Went to 9 NC games in those 12 seasons (6 in a row at Kentucky Wesleyan)
  • Won 4 of them
  • 12-2 vs Bruce Pearl
<div>Kind of a hometown hero. I think he'll be there awhile.</div></div>

And then make you fools look like the baffoons you really are. Would hate it for MSU but it would serve most of you right

The irony is rich. Did they have the ACT when you went to college? Was spelling part of it?

He has had what, one legitimate offer since he's been here? If we are supposed to be just lowly miss state an he is suppose to be a great coach, why no other offers? My guess is he won't coach. He's had a good run. Time to just hang it up

he goes out on his own terms and resigns.

But either way, he's got to go unless something magical happens over the next four weeks.

A Upward Basketball Team or maybe a high school team somewhere haha. In all seriousness I don't think many D1 schools will even care, he doesn't have any big accomplishments and his NCAA tourney record isn't pretty.

How about our only overall SEC championship in the last 50 years, two SEC tourney championships and should be a third SEC tourney championship if the referees had correctly called a lane violation. I know the last couple years haven't been pretty but to say Rick has had no accomplishments is dumb as hell. If he does leave MSU after this season, he will for sure have another job as a college head coach if he wants it. It probably will be with a mid-major team, which would be a good change of scenery for him.

Winning the SEC doesn't really mean jack, when that same team can't even advance to the Sweet 16. Winning games in the NCAA tournament at amajor conference school defines a coach's greatness. Rick has had 14 years and plenty of talent to show he can make the NCAA tournament and be a contender, but he has yet to do that. Winning the SEC and not doing anything in the tournament is the equal to getting a "participant award".

I was simply refuting your rediculous statement that he had no accomplishments at MSU. There are plenty of coaches that have good jobs that haven't ever made a Sweet 16. Hell, Oliver Purnell has never even won an NCAA tournament game and DePaul paid him a shitload of money to hire him away from Clemson. No, Rick won't be the next coach at Duke, but once he leaves MSU, he'll probably get a nice head coaching job in a mid-major conference if he wants it.

When he leaves MSU, whether it's this year or in the future, he'll either retire for good or take a year off. </p>

I really don't want to fire stansbury. I hope this team pulls it together and gets into the NCAA, but even if they do, does Stansbury really want to come back next season? Without a sweet 16 run, he'll probably be looking at the same thing next year: make the tourney or lose your job. Assuming we lose Moultrie, does Stansbury really want to spend a year trying to make the tourney with the team he'll be left with? I'll certainly be fine with that, as I'd rather be performing a coaching search with a Hood, Pollard, Deville, and Harris on the team than with next years team, but I'm not sure it doesn't make more sense for Stansbury to just retire on somewhat of a high note.

Surely Stansbury has made enough at State that he can retire now? Or at least retire comfortably if he takes a lower pressure job.
