What should the Colts do with Manning?

Manning's injury has exposed their lack of a supporting cast. It would take balls but I think they need to trade him for a ton of draft picks and a decent running back then take Andrew Luck.

I think teams like the Dolphins, Vikings, or Seahawks would give just about anything to get Manning for even a couple of good years.</p>

Something like $52M of the $100M total will have been paid to Manning by March 2012. So if a team traded for him, they'd pay about $48M for 3 years. Not cheap, but a lot closer to something reasonable. Of course, this is all contingent on him being completely cleared medically. If he's not cleared all this is academic.

I think Peyton's injury has removed the aura from Bill Polian's "genius". Jason Whitlock has been pounding that drum for years, and I think this season exposed the whole notion as a fraud. A competent GM would have had a competent backup in place for a QB Peyton's age. I'm still not sure what to think about Caldwell, whether he could be a competent coach, or if he's just a figurehead for the Manning Machine.

I'm definitely not confident that Irsay will straighten things out - the guy's Twitter feed reads like a 14-year-old girl's, and it's barely intelligible half the time.

At this point, I'm not convinced Peyton will be able to play again. I'd love to see him back next year, but I'd rather see him retire than wear another jersey. Love him or hate him, it would just be wrong.

No waythe tightass owners of the 49ers try to get Manning. Alex Smith is going a pretty competent job at the moment.

based on the unknown and hoping andrew luck works out ...lets be serious we really don't know how good he will be in 5-10years

You do know how good Manning is.
I would trade the number 1 pick on the idea we dont' really know if he has "it" ...lets be honest the last qb from pac10-12 that had "it" really didn't have "it"
you are not going to get to took the number 1 is worth another 1 lower and + whatever else
The draft is qb deep this year you can get another qb and put under Mannings wing in the 3rd round and have him Aaron Rodgers ready in 4-5 years.

SF probably wont lose another regular season game- altho Pitt may beat them- but I think SF wins tiebreaker over the Aints anyway

for saints to catch them

because 2 of the 3 loses will be afc team and they would have a better conference record

I've been discussing this since the 62-7 drumming by the Saints. I think the responsible thing to do is draft Luck and trade Manning while eating some of the contract. The team that makes the most sense is Miami. Taking the QB out of the discussion, both rosters are pretty similar.

One top notch receiver, a solid offensive line, a run of the mill backfield... the only difference is the Dolphins have a better defense and it's not even close.

I'd be on the phone with the Dolphins asking for Cameron Wake and draft picks.

As a Dallas Cowboys fan....I would give whatever it takes to get him if he is cleared to play ( I think we could pay the 48 mil over 3yrs). Trade Romo for a bunch of draft picks. We would rule the world with him and the running game. Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten with Peyton throwing to them with a Demarco Murray led running game. we would tea bag the packers.

Edited to say....peyton would retire before he went to the skins or the dolphins. nightmareku. Remember when eli was drafted by the chargers = hissiefit.

Peyton isn't a douche like Eli is though. The fact that he chose UT when everything at Ole Miss is already named after him will tell you that.

I think Peyton would go to Washington or Miami before he went to the dumpster fire that is Dallas. Go to Miami/Washington where you have an offense that resembles Indianapolis but doesn't have the QB where you have utmost control and potentially work under Shanahan or go to Dallas where everything you do is critiqued and the owner, who has done everything in his power to make the Cowboys a brand instead of a winning program, follows you around the locker room telling you what you should and shouldn't do....?

Child, please.

yeah well I hate Jerry Jones as much as a cowboys hater, yet he has a surprising ability to get what he wants. Miami/Washington??? and your calling dallas a dumpster fire. He's be out for the season in 3 games cause well neither of them can block....well you or me. Neither has any decent receivers...and please don't say brandon headcase marshall or chris cooley. Shanahan and his son suck balls. Those two teams rank 20 and 21st in total offense this year.

now it's wishful thinking for him to the cows but miami and wash are terrible options.

If he is healthy, you could trade that pick for a boat load of picks and players allowing one last big Super Bowl push with Manning. Then use one of the picks you get to find his replacement down the road.

If he is not healthy, trade Manning for picks. You will not get as many but you will get some to put in place for Luck to have success in the future.

From what I have heard he might not ever play again or if he does it won't be at the same level as before.
