What should the Grizz do tonight?

If they keep the pick, I say Thabeet. But I would consider a trade for the 5 and 18 from Minnesota. Whatever they do, do NOT draft Ricky Rubio. He may turn out great, but he's also got a good shot at being a total bust.

I'd quickly swap the #2 for the #5 and #18 from Minnesota - to me that's a no-brainer.

Then I'd take any and all offers for the #5. I just don't think the draft is all that deep this year and lacks in impact players. Lots of teams want to make moves and I'd be involved as much as I could and try to build around Mayo/Gay and maybe even consider swapping Gay in the right deal.

Ideally, deal with Minnesota, as they really want Rubio. If they don't get something done, either draft Thabeet or go ahead and take Rubio and then deal him (sort of like with Love last year).

I'd give Minnesota Gay and the #2 for Al Jefferson then call it a day.

Hell yeah!! Jefferson is under contract through 2013. Do that and through the checkbook at Turkoglu to come in and be the SF.

Conley - Mayo

Jefferson - Gasol - Turkoglu

to pick him up for a conditional 2nd round pick and cash later this season.

Hard to believe he "earns" the highest salary on the Grizz. Second? Marko Jaric. The Grizz have almost $15mil wrapped up in those two superstars next season.

dumping him would be wise.

as for the draft, i think thabeet is the best fit at 2, even with gasol, because talented 7'3" centers don't come along too often. if they want to address actual team needs, then it may be best to trade down and look at upgrading at PF. that's if they are happy with gasol long-term. if they could make the trade with minnesota and come out with hill and mullens, then i'd be happy as a grizz fan. i think hansbrough might be a good fit with that second pick, as well.</p>

we're under the cap minimum right now and can't just dump salaries, we need a non cancer veteran for bench depth.

Maybe since the Hornets payroll is of the charts since CP3's deal goes up about 9 mil/season, they'd want Darko for David West. You never know, they tried with Chandler for expiring contracts.............

I'll be disappointed in anything other than trading away that #2 pick. There is no one that fits our needs and is worth the #2 pick. I agree with the MN trade. I've also heard some mentions of trading for Love. He would fill our needs at the 4 by giving us the rebounder we are missing. We could then use the cap space to bring in solid bench players.

I don't like the Richardson-Darko deal - people make stupid deals for expiring contracts sometime so if they hold out they might get something better than Quentin.

Though I think CP3 has more to do with West's success than West himself does.

There are rumors of a three way deal that would send 5&6 to Memphis. I don't see it happening, but would love to see it.

I do know that I do not want to draft Rubio for the fact that he very well could end up back in Spain next year and it would be a wasted pick

...tell him to extend David Lee and trade him and pick #8 for #2 and Darko. NY still has a bunch of salary and need to unload more to get king james next summer. They still have 11 guys at $70 million on the payroll this season as of today.

I would trade the #2 for the #5 and #18 with Minnesota. Then, I would try to trade the #5 and #36 pick and 2010 2nd round pick to the Suns for Amare Stoudemire. I would use the #18 to try to pick up a backup for Amare....hopefully a Dejuan Blair, Tyler Hansbrough, or Earl Clark. If they are gone, look for the best available like a Brandon Jennings, Ty Lawson (Mike Conley ain't shown me much yet), Wayne Ellington (need a lights out shooter anyway). That is what I would try to do.
