Nice guy that Barnhart fellow....
Jurich is the most interesting AD in Kentucky.... Barney not in the same league...figuratively speaking.
If Louisville can have a successful football program and b-ball.... Why not Kentucky?
Ya'll can love Barnhart all you want but if Stoops doesn't work out he's a lame duck AD...
All I know that our "AD of the year" would be fired at every other SEC school.
Certainly disagree with this - as long as Cal is at UK, Barnhart is safe.Ya'll can love Barnhart all you want but if Stoops doesn't work out he's a lame duck AD...
That Kragthorpe hire was one of the better moves as well. Louisville is an absolute joke as a school and an athletic program right now. The Pitino restaurant scandal, the hooker scandal, hiring Petrino when nobody else would, the administration is in flux. No thanks.
Football is ranked 13th and Pitino is putting together one of his best recruiting classes in decades. Louisville baseball was within a whisker of going to back to back CWS and UofL WBB is always very highly ranked. Yep, real shambles over there...That Kragthorpe hire was one of the better moves as well. Louisville is an absolute joke as a school and an athletic program right now. The basketball team couldn't even play in the tournament last year and there may be a great chance they don't play this year either. They don't even know who the board of directors are to make decisions within the school. Would you want your son to go play basketball or football at U of L? I would love to hear the answers when a parent asks them "1. What's up with the President of the University? 2. What's up with you having a coach pay for strippers in the dorm room? 3. What is up with the Board of Directors at the school? 4. Why did you leave the Atlanta Falcons in the middle of year and put post it notes on their lockers? 5. Why have you left every school you have been after just a few years? 6. In what direction is this school headed? 7. What impact will the NCAA investigation have? Oh, wait a minute, you are #14 in the country, so that makes all these other questions mute.
While basketball is our top sport, it isn't our number one money maker. Football is. And Mitch didn't go out and ask cal to be our coach, others did. He got the one and only billy g
Nope but we are only talking about bad thingsSo Barnhart only gets credit for the bad things, I get it.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play? The only real negatives are the off-field issues.
meet in order to be considered a success?
Has Barnhart met them?
Has Jurich been successful and does UK need an AD as aggressive?
Knowing what you know would you hire Barnhart or retain an AD with his accomplishments?
Honest question. If you could trade places with U of L athletics and put their AD and coaches in Lexington and then put ours in Louisville, would you do it?
No way. I think it would say a lot of about how many people could care less how we did it as long as we won.
Spitting truth!Tom Jurich has been a tremendous success on just about every front. From a facilities standpoint, he's been unbelievable. On the field/court, U of L has been very good. They have multiple Final Four appearances in men's and women's basketball. They've overachieved on the football field, IMO. Their baseball program has made multiple College World Series appearances. The only real negatives are the off-field issues. Fortunately for Jurich, U of L fans could care less. Even better, those controversies tend to die off. Petrino and his unethical behavior at Arkansas? Pitino and his unethical behavior at U of L? Nationally, those stories spend some time in the headlines then fade.
Mitch Barnhart has had success as well, but not nearly as much. With football, he has a tough road to travel. The SEC combined with UK's gridiron history = tough to get the program going. Unfortunately, horrid decision making has made a VERY tough job even tougher. Joker Phillips? Mark Stoops? Why hire guys with ZERO head coaching experience to work possibly the toughest job in the league? At a time when college baseball has begun to flourish, UK's program remains in neutral. They won a league title about 10 years ago. That's it. Not even one super regional appearance. UK basketball has one national title in his 15 years at UK. The Calipari hire was A+. The Billy G hire was a woeful F (LOL). Minor sports are WAY better (for those that care). Facilities have been upgraded, but not nearly as much so as U of L. Women's basketball seems to be in chaos right now. No FF's either.
If not for the Calipari hire and Brooks recruiting himself to the head coaching position, my goodness, Barnhart's tenure might be a total train wreck.
GBB!!!
Which is why we can't compete in football. And UK is unlike the other SEC schools. Like it our not basketball drives the bus at UK.
If you're happy with Barnhart... fine by me. Go spend money on what he's selling.Does the hooker scandal matter?
There wasn't just one, but two issues with Petrino. First, the one everyone talks about, his baggage, his character. And that either matters to you or it doesn't. Until blue in the face, doesn't matter, never to be settled. But the other is his known disdain for UK and his history with UofL. I think he'd only have taken the UK job because there was nothing else out there. Put plainly, if he had taken the UK job, I wouldn't have been surprised at all if he'd left us as soon as something else opened, maybe even UofL. That would've been the low point of all low points....A lot of people on this board gave me hell when I wanted Petrino to replace Joker. It isn't often that UK football has that kind of good fortune fall right into their lap. Well, they pissed the opportunity away. And of course, our only true rival benefited.
Based on the players BP is getting, he must have answers that are good enough. The basketball team couldn't even play in the tournament last year and there may be a great chance they don't play this year either.
