What the 17 is wrong with Comcast internet?

I have not had it since about 6 PM yesterday. Every time I call 1800-xfinity it gives me a time they will have it back. They have not met any of their deadlines.

Bah.

Some folks always want to bash Comcast.

I had Comcast for my business until I moved it a couple a weeks ago and now have AT&T. I'd punch somebody in the throat just to have my Comcast internet back. Much faster. Much more reliable. But, that's just me and my experience with them ....

I'm not bashing them, just trying to figure out what is going on. Seems like all of Hattiesburg is out for some reason. Maybe it's storm related but that seems highly unlikely with cables and all.

Not just Internet either. Missing several tv channels as well here in Meridian.

Throw a twitter rant and don't stop calling. AT&T customer service is a nightmare, until you go public often and In-Tents-ly. I eventually got on the phone with the right person and had a tech for inside the house, a tech for outside the house, and a tech for the entire neighborhood all come out on a Saturday. My service (Uverse) has been flawless ever since, and I've got a year at half price because of the hassle. Just be an obnoxious, whiny, annoying dick. It will pay off.

My cable is back up now, also in Meridian. But I will bash Comcast. I called them on the 11th of Dec for a problem at my mother's house and it took 10 days to get the bastards out here. It didn't take that long when Katrina blew though. I did all they asked me to do, checking cables and returning boxes to the local store, but no luck. When the tech finally got here, he was from Hattiesburg. He said the Meridian office only has a handful of techs living in the area and said no way those guys can handle it all.

Oh well.....I guess I should be grateful they worked me into their busy schedule. Bastards.

Some is probably due to Amazon web services crashing. aGAIN

Took Netflix down for almost a day. I think Comcast uses them for some stuff, especially ondemand.

They are as bad as American Airlines.

Friend of mine's Jackson-to-DFW flight got canceled yesterday due to weather. The next flight they could get on....December 30th!

I use Comcast for my business as well. As much as I hate Comcast, the other options are downright frightening.

Funny, I switched to Uverse from Comcast last week, and I'm on the phone now....

with ATT.....one thing to note, I have not disconnected my comcast...waited until fully installed....the internet is much faster with comcast....I do live in an area with fiber optic ATT....I just called and got to their "level 2" support....I told her that one box in one of my rooms in my house is not working....she got it up and working just now and I also told her how 17in slow the internet was and she said she would fix that as well.....now, I am cruising at about my comcast speed....

now that its working, I am enjoying this much better and im getting dvr service in all of my rooms in my house without having to rent individual boxes for $15 bucks a month like comcast....i only had 2 with them.....Im feeling much happier now....

couple of things to note:

I tried 3 17in times to bundle with Comcast....3 17IN times i called....i liked everything....and every time i called i got a message saying "we are too busy at this time, call back"......when I called to cancel a second phone line with att in my house, I ended up going with Uverse...

when dude came to install ATT verse, it was on the 21st, and he was here from 2pm until 9pm and was super nice and was telling me how he needed to get home to his kids....I sent hime home at 9pm with Tacos to go and made him some hot chocolate....he had to come back the next day....when he came, he brought me 2 wireless cable boxes that he originally told me were $50 one time fees for both....and said, Merry Xmas.....I guess not being a pompous dick sometimes pays off....

If you think a guy spending seven hours in your house and having to come back the next day is great service, then good for you.

All I know is that I had Comcast installed when I opened my business four years ago. They came out and installed it. May have taken the guy an hour - maybe two. I had no problems for the entire four years except in times like this with bad weather (which is understandable to me). Fast, reliable internet with no problems.

Moved my business and this AT&T service that I have is much slower and seems to go down every two or three days.

That's all I know.

If that makes me a pompous dick, then so be it.

Completely agree w the Twatter suggestion. Do that w some #Ihatecomcast hash tag, and someone will come running to the rescue QUICKLY. Did this 4 times and got instant results every time. Be sure to include the Comcast twitter address though.
