What the SEC and Pacific West should now do...

The SEC cannot sit and let the Pacific (10) West add new teams all the way into the south and not expand themselves. I think the expansion should be East and West and go to 16 if the PacWest does. The SEC should go try to sway UNC and VT from the east. We could also go after FSU, Miami, Clemson, GT, etc... On the west side, we need to go out and try to add Texas A&M and Kansas. There is also a possiblilty to get Ok.St or Mizzou. I think we should go after Kansas first and then figure out which works best between OkST., Mizzou, and Tex A&M. I do not like the idea of adding 4 ACC teams. With the big 12 exploding, I think the west division should actually look to the west.<div>

</div><div>Next best case:</div><div>SEC East: Miami and UNC/VT</div><div>SEC West: KU and Ok. St.</div><div>
</div><div>
</div><div>As for the new Pacific West, they should add Texas and Oklahoma to get to 13. Then, add Utah, Boise St. and Texas Tech. TTU could be substituted for several different teams but this appears to make the most sense all around.</div><div>
</div><div>The SEC cannot stand still on this one. We need to now preempt other conferences and make a splash with some teams. The days of small conferences are over. We need to move now! The Big Ten is still pursuing Nebraska( done deal) but they are also still after Notre Dame. If the SEC will jump to a power 16 conference, it will force the hand of Notre Dame IMO. They won't be able to sit in as good a shape as independents. Also, the Big Ten is pursuing several other teams to join. They need to just add Louisville + another Big East school, and 2 Big 12 remaining schools.</div>

Regardless of what pac 10 or big 10 do I see no reason to expand. Both those conferences want enough teams for the revenue generated by championship game and a bigger tv audience appeal. SEC already has both and is under no pressure to do anything. I see nothing to gain from expanding.

Texas and aTm officials are meeting today to discuss their futures. SEC should check with the Aggies this evening to see if the are dead set on sticking with Texas. If there is any chance to get them in the SEC, they should try right now. Look at Missouri as a second team, but if they are still talking to the Big Ten, then they're out. Not sure who the second school should be, but plenty of good candidates out there. I'm not sure the SEC needs to go to 16 just because the 12-PAC does.

now is the time and Texas A&M is the team. I'd add only 1 more team and stop at 14 though. No sense splitting the pot 16 ways when you can split it 14 ways.

The problem will be that we will have to expand within the next 5 years if these conferences like the PacWest and the Big16 get put together right with more solid teams. Do we have to go to 16? No. The problem will be that within several years we will have to expand and then we will be at a disadvantage. Strike while the iron is hot and realize that while we split revenues further, revenues will also increase with new markets. Look at the Big 12 imploding as the model NOT to follow. Their model was to sit and do nothing. The SEC will be okay if we dont move now....but bear in mind, we will have to expand if the Big east, Big 16, and PacWest teams have 16. Might as well move, when we can get just about whomever we want with all the re-shuffling going on!
