I went to our roller rink once and I can recall they played Hall and Oates “Private Eyes” over and over.
While I like Planet Rock better as a song, White Lines was the best roller skating song of my generation. Everybody was out skating and moving to the music when White Lines was on.
Along with my murder ball skills, I once won a hokey pokey contest at a roller rink pre-deafness.
I think we must have went to the same place because that was the song that comes to mind when I recall my roller skating days. Old Sir Skate in State College in the early 1980s

Skate Ranch on 309 in hatfield. I think it may still be there.
At Rollerrama on Rte 413. Rube’s Barber Shop was nearby. (I had a Marine cut for the better part of my childhood.)
“Skateaway“ by Dire Straits was popular at the rinks when I was growing up. Sha-la sha-lay, hey, hey…..
I remember Billy Squire would get everyone on the palace rink. If you were lucky, a girl might give you a high 5 as you rolled by! That was if you weren’t playing galaga!
I only remember that tortuous Starship song roller skating. Also the words "Couples only....couples only"
I had that go-ped (gas engine scooter) in the video, when I was at PSU from 95-96. It was bicycle legal at the time since the engine was under 2HP. Cops harassed me to no end though.
It's a Midwestern thing?
Edit: Ha! I totally did not answer the question. Planet Rock! And that is no knock on "White Lines" both were excellent skate songs!
