Shuffle pass.

We're pretty good at short yardage. Everybody talks about the INT @ LSU. But in every game this year, we're pretty darn good at short yardage. We spread the field, hand the ball off, and our RBs are pretty good about picking and angle, twisting, and/or pushing to pick up 2-3 yards.

The shuffle pass was a long-yardage situation. We hadn't called it all game long. We saved it for the right moment and called it at just the right time and it worked brilliantly.

We had run the option outside all game, and they were finally beginning to stop it. It was also very wellexecuted byBallardand Relf.

We had been shoving it down their throats that whole drive. I thought the timing on the call was perfect, and Relf made a good pass to give Arceto a chance at it. He sold the run fake, and it was Arceto and 1 guy up top. Thought the execution of everything, and the timing of it was perfect, and Arceto made a nice catch and fall into the endzone. That pretty much sealed the victory.

but it's basically what most goood coaches would do at that point (or the play before or play after). We'd run enough successfully enough that their safety's were cheating, and we were able to take advantage of it. The shuffle pass I thought was much more impressive. It's a play not everybody has and it was set up perfectly by the success we'd been having outside with the option.

As frustrated as some people get with the playcalling, plays like the schuffle pass remind me that the questionable play calls (outside of maybe the half back pass this game) were pretty much all good calls that were only questionable b/c of our lack of talent (or decision making ability) to execute. If we can upgrade our talent, I think everyone will be very happy with Mullen's playcalling.

thankfully for us. The chop block call that moved Georgia from a first and goal at our 8 (which they had with the pass completion) back to the 41 I thought was by far the biggest single play in the game. They were moving the ball with ease on that drive and appeared ready to go in for the go ahead TD. Everything went downhill for GA after that call.

Watching the DVR, Tim Couch says Relf saw the offsides happen, and the flag, and threw it up knowing he had a free play.
I hope he is right.

He hasn't seen Relf make the exact same throw on as many non-offsides plays as I have though.
