Just curious, does Mitch have a buyout? His contract runs to 2022 so short of a morality issue or breaking the law I doubt he goes anywhere. Of course unless another school comes calling. Chances are slim that will happen.

He has a retention bonus. You know, the thing you give as incentive for someone you want to stay.

Aw c'mon guys. I heard on iheart radio this morning that we're gonna have Mitch until 2022, so we might as well just shut up and deal.

I have cofidence he'll get this next hire right. He's due.

No way in hell Barnhart gets fired over the football team losing games. The basketball program is in great shape. Not that fans care, but the minor sports are in good shape. UK athletics is in GREAT fiscal shape. Lucky for Mitch, UK football is going to generate millions with our without fans coming to the stadium. Hey, maybe this is why he took 6K seats out (LOL)!!

One positive thought (I guess). UK athletics generates over $100 million a year in revenues. Buying Stoops out at the end of the season would be brutally expensive, but UK could afford it. I can't see it happening, but you never know.

GBB!!!
If it wasn't for the SEC windfall, Mitch would look even worse as an AD, he has nothing to do with it coming in and he is probably the worse AD we have ever had at raising money.

Another shitbag that never attended UK and doesn't support UK in any way. Weird that you couldn't list any of the reasons.

LOL. I'll give you 10K for you to prove your first sentence . If you cant prove it then you are admitting to everyone that you're a troll and a liar.

If he was graded on just fb , then yes he would be gone . If fb was the most liked sport at UK then again he would be gone . If fb wasn't the only sport not competing well then it's possible . But with everything but fb doing really good , it's highly unlikely .

Did you just call another man a ***** because of 2 hires he made? Just a FYI, low rent $2 POS fans like you who don't support UK in any way and didn't even attend UK don't really move the needle.

Now don't go all Hillary on us. :grimace:
There seem to be a lot of us in your "basket of deplorables"! :sunglasses:

It's way past time to ditch Barnhart!!!!

Yea but you can expect dips , almost no program is immune to that . Fb is the only near complete fail at UK under his tenure but UK historically has been a fail at fb . It's no excuse , Mitch needs to solve the problem despite that history . But you aren't going to get fired for something nobody has been able to solve .

and did it in the middle of a season when there was no way other schools were showing any interest yet. if he'd just been patient until end of season he might have seen the horrendous finish to the year, the difficult portion, and been a bit smarter about it. naw, let's go ahead and get it out of the way before basketball starts. what. a. dumbass.
You made an excellent point and bring up a brilliant idea which is to be patient until end of season and maybe realize you were very wrong. Just a thought.

except in the first case you are waiting for the hard part before bestowing an award. for the second you are hoping for better results under conditions that are harder. what's smart in one instance likely isn't for the other.

There are so few scenarios that would involve Kentucky hiring a new AD it's not even worth talking about. What I do wonder is could fan pressure get high enough where Mitch actually decides to hire an Assistant AD to specifically be in charge of football. For example, he is friends with Coach Brooks and leaned on him in the past to help with hiring a football coach. What if he decided to lean on him again and asked him to essentially be the administrator in charge of football. To me, this sort of scenario might represent our clearest, best hope for administrative leadership for the football program going forward.

If this was an 80's movie... we'd march up to Barnhart's house and while chaos ensues and drunk party people are all in his yard we'd sneak into his house and from the top floor throw him still in his comfy chair out the window and into his big swimming pool all while twisted sister's "we're not gonna take it" is playing. He'd get the message and we'd win.. movie over.

oh the 80's cinema... back when we knew how to get stuff done the right way lol

I am going to miss tuning into pregame shows in football to hear him pat himself on the back for awesome volleyball, badmitton and chess teams.

$1M contract for a WBB coach who effectively ran off his entire team AND staff this past year...

Keep it up Mitch, ye savant of evaluating coaching talent and executive of Memoranda of Understanding!!!

What a colossal dipshit.
Ha! Far Matthew Mitchell, he's only won at an unprecedented level at UK.

I'm convinced you are Barnfart's personal assistant or something. Everything you post is incredibly ignorant.
What specifically did I post that was terribly ignorant? Oh, I took issue with the OP calling another man a *****? Yeah, pretty ignorant.

Barnhart has 4 years minimum left to be comfortable at UK. After that, Brad Calipari is no longer at UK and Cal leaving for the NBA or just retiring becomes a lot more likely. After the Stoops fiasco, that is the hire that will strike terror in the hearts of donors.
Personally, I think Stoops is at UK thru next year no matter what happens this season. Right now Barnhart has too many allies to feel much heat over Stoops. That may change by the end of the season and it could really change if UofL does hang a beastly whipping on us.

UK football failure is not a Mitch thing. He just took on the job and hasn't done very well at fixing it. He just did some of the things fans here moan about: Spend money on improvements to UK football.
