in terms of formations and plays?

I would like to see the wishbone in goal line situations.

And then I would like to see the Archie Cooley four WR stack either from under center like Cooley used to do it or from the gun.

I wanted to see Malcolm Johnson taking shovel passes out of the Flex on that option variant, but I guess that isn't going to happen.

We get to the point ...

Dak comes in and gets comfortable both running and passing.

Just have seen way too many State football seasons 'go up in flames' when the starting QB got hurt.

Don't think anyone has illusions that Dak will turn out like Tebow but I have heard that he is further along as a RFR than any other QB State has had in many moons. This bodes well for the future.

and according to Dan at the Press Conference, current injuries are limited to Malcolm (out for a couple more weeks), hunter Bradley (Out for season with ACL) and Tempelton Hardy, doubtful with an ankle).

Any team that can go through summer, two-a-days and fall practice and only have 1 out, 1 limited, and 1 back in a few weeks is way lucky.

I can remember when we had multiple hamstrings that lingered, several ankles that refused to heal, and various ailments that limited 'on-field' time for months.

Don't know if 'Balis made' has anything at all to do with our 'health' but it does make a good 'Urban Legend.'

I think "Balis-Made" has a lot to do with it. Along with strength comes conditioning, which to me means prepping the body to take the punishment of football.

Knowing Mullen, it would not surprised if we had a few more he is not telling about. I know someone close to the team that tells me we have some more non serious injuries that he is not releasing. But you are right no major injuries is a good sign.

I got a fever and the only prescription is more screen passes. That was missing from our offense last year for the most part.

Vertical game, we have to have a better down field passing game. This offense will be dynamic using more field which has not been done before due to the limits of our QB and line.

This will make everything that much better: running, screens and our favorite play - 8 yard curl on 3rd and 10!

I want to see Dak come into the game in obvious running

plays and pass. I want to see Tyler tuck it and run and slide like a pro qb for a first down.

I want to see us jumping routes because our DL pressures the qb to throw too early.

I want to see other teams not be able to get the corner on screens and sweeps because our LB's are too fast.

Sacks are cool, but the rest of these make me think we will be owning the other team.

Pistol formation...WR runs outta a 4 wide shotgun...screens screens bubble screens...audibles from running formations into passing formations and then running it and vice versa...completely mind17ing the opponent with tempo and audibles...extra points from multiple PR/KR for touchdowns...quick slants to get the ball outta Russell's hands quickly.

More screens to Perkins.
Some inside option shovel passes like Florida used to do.
Wishbone in goal line situations with Prescott could be good.
Just say no to 4 WR stack. We're notorios for not making the block on outside WR screens. If we put 4 out there, we probably wind up with 1 of our own guys making the tackle.

Or maybe we will. Looks like he's only out for a couple of weeks. I was thinking he was out for the season.

This is our offense this year. Tyler is more comfortable in pistol as opposed to shotgun. He looked leaps and bounds better. As far as what I want to see? I want Tyler's jersey clean, no injuries to him and great offensive line play all year. If he's upright & not taking a beating, we're gonna go to a possible BCS game.

when tyler is in i wanna see a balanced attack and not tryin to force pass plays into the playcalling like we have the last few years.

when dak is in i would like to see the actual option like we ran for one series against auburn two years ago. i think it would be enough of a change to really benefit us in big games.

Balls kicked in the endzone.

The formations are of far less consequence than the playcalling. We must stop sabotaging productive drives by trying too hard to out-think the defense. We were our own worst enemy all year 2011. I cant even remember what game we ran that 17ing Bumphis reverse pass play to kill a drive. It made me so mad I think it blacked out the rest of the game for me.

Here is another specific: Playcalling on short down-distance. Lets stop pretending that Perk is the best short yardage back on our team. No more shotgun on 17ing 3rd and 1. No Read Option, No Counter...just line up and run the 17ing ball or sneak the QB. We finally have a slew of massive QBs (including Relf last year) and we refuse to just snap the ball and let the QB dive. Snap, pivot, hit the line. These slow developing plays on critical short yardage situations are killing me.

Another key will be us finding a way to hit receivers in a way that gives them a chance at some YAC. I swear it seems like every time we made a completion against a decent defense last year we were either hemmed in by the sideline, on a stop-route, or just generally in no position to run after the catch. The screen game many have alluded to is one answer for this. More quick slants is another.

I'll disagree with you slightly....

We're a shotgun/pistol team. Unless we're going to spend a lot of practice time on short yardage & taking snaps under center, we're better off sticking to what we do and staying in the 'gun/pistol. Hell, that was one of my biggest complaints about the final play of the Auburn game last year. We'd run the ball like a machine all day out of the gun, then we get on the goal line for the potential game-winning score and go under 17ing center. Of course, it still took the perfect hit to keep Relf out of the endzone, but that's a different story.

Other than that, I agree with you. And I also agree we need to forgo the slow developing run plays on short yardage. I'm hoping we won't see much of Perk and much more of Griffin in those situations. He's got the size and power to get those critical extra few inches that Perk doesn't. I'd also be in favor of an occasional direct snap in those situations.

I'd like to see us not do the Dawg Pound Rock at the beginning of every game. Bust it out when we score a last minute game winning TD like we did in the old days. And a constant pass rush.

fewer false starts on the O-line ... shouldn't be a problem with Carmon gone ... although Clausel was following very close in his footsteps

trips right/left, More Combo routes, receivers in motion when ball is snapped (boise is very effective with this), fewer OL tackling RB's, jail break screen.
