What's everyone's opinion of Scott Stricklin?

Vanilla. Sorta a yes man to the cigar boyz

I mean, I don't really follow this stuff, but I'm kind of surprised that so many people are pulling out the pitchforks for Mullen, but seemingly feel just fine about Stricklin's continued employment. The guy seems out of his depth. Greg Byrne wasn't exactly super experienced, but was so much less... clumsy. The guy doesn't even have Larry Templeton's air of semi-competence, despite having all of his GOB back-story.

I just get the sense that a mediocre AD is a much greater threat to a Mississippi university's football program than even the worst head football coach.

And just so I don't get the cries of troll or whatever, this is fireworksforjeffy, and I'm genuinely wanting to know what folks think. There was never any point where I hated any Ole Miss coaches more than I loathed Pete Boone.

I'll hang up and listen.

nothing bad like Lonie, but not much good like the Ninja

Bracky doesn't work for Stricklin. He works for Keenum. Stricklin couldn't fire him whether he wanted to or not. As for the right decision on Mullen, the worst would be to keep him and tell him he needs to make changes. If you have to tell your head coach what to do, you should go ahead and fire him. You can tell him he has to win X number of games, but you can't tell him how to do his job.

Nice. Green. Hard worker. Green. Tech savvy. Green. ......................................................

He seemed green right out of the box. Did not inspire confidence. Then his performance with the only major sport coaching search he's overseen scared the **** out of me. I have zero confidence in his ability to oversee a football search. It's one of the reasons I am absolutely convinced that there will not be one this year under any circumstances.

My sentiments exactly.

LOL! So now we move the crosshairs over to Stricklin. I guess it got old ripping Mullen apart on a daily basis. Keenum, you're next! And we haven't forgot about you Wiseman!

I wasn't saying outright tell him. Not giving him an extension is an implicit way of telling him he has to make changes. As for what those changes are Mullen will have to decide for himself.

I wasn't aware about Bracky's place in the org chart. If that's the case, Stricklin should do as much as he can to firewall Bracky off from the athletics department. Give him less access than the fans.

We should just be glad there's not some young, dynamic AD with State ties at a SunBelt/MAC school. Then we'd have to hear about how much better THEY WOULD BE every Wed/Thu/Fri night.

I was skeptical at first, but Rick Ray is a good hire. Unlike the football team the first half of the season, the basketball team IS giving relentless effort. For Dan to say his team did so until the A&M game is false advertising.

I just don't see many schools firing Mullen under the same circumstances. Maybe 95% is the wrong number, maybe 89% is better. The Alabama's and the Oklahoma's would fire Mullen, but the mentality of giving a guy more time because technically he's better than anyone else we've had is what is separating us from them. I'd fire Mullen, and on his way out I would thank him for all the positives he's done for MSU. I can certainly understand the argument of keeping Mullen for another year and while it's not my 1st choice I'm on board if we fire some assistants. Again, I don't think a significant majority of AD's would fire Mullen considering, so that isn't why I'm criticizing Scott.

And I'm not belittling his fundraising, and I pointed that out in my OP. I'm just making the point that I can understand having a business-minded AD if your school is the Alabama football of the business-end of sports, but we're not. Far from it.

I prefer the Piggly Wiggly. You can actually re-assemble the entire pig right there in the meat department!

He's like the guy in college who was always nice and polite and noone ever really had a problem with and MAYBE if it was a special occasion would have 2 beers tops (Just to not be that non-drinker guy). So pretty much he's just a soft, ***** little douche really. I hate it for him, I mean I think he tries hard and really means well, but he just doesn't have the charisma. It's tough, because its tough to fire a guy like that but there's no doubt he is going to hold our program back. Like someone said, he couldn't hold Greg Byrnes jock strap, that guy was the man.

Also, Sorry to spoil the party for the Hudspeth fanboys, but Hudspeth won't be our head coach while Stricklin is here.... because Hud doesn't like Stricklan
