They were one of the first to have an opening and are one of the last to fill it. Do they have their guy and just waiting for him to finish his season. Or are they still flopping around trying to figure it out?

Good read on it here

I keep hearing they are not getting the interest they were planning on getting from people. Last I heard they are interviewing a WR coach from the Washington Commanders.

Looks like UCLA is hiring Chesney. I thought he would be a good fit at Penn State (PA native and East Coast guy). He's never coached anywhere besides the East Coast so that seems to be a weird fit for UCLA. I am wondering if PSU is looking at an NFL assistant?

penn state is really a strange situation. first, firing franklin put them in a "put up or shut up" box - a limited pool. perhaps it is the alabama guy, deboer, who grew up in milbank, played and coached at sioux falls college - not exactly the deep south.

Speaking of strange fits....the Mormon BYU alum going to College Station, PA?
it won't be for money but rather ego if sitake leaves for psu - btw, it's in state college not college station. mormon's have plenty of jack. frankly, i have never been that high on sitake seeing him as a product of circumstances - right place, right time. interesting hire if the lions go that direction.

Yeah he seems to have it made at BYU, the Big 12 is pretty weak and BYU has tons of NIL money. He should win 9-10+ games every year and be in the playoff hunt.

He's going to leave that to go to a place that fired a coach who made the Semi-Finals of the Playoffs the year before? I figured if anything, he would wait until Whittingham retires and take over at Utah.

seriously? byu is a better job than utah. way better tradition. closer ties to the mormon faith that dominates that state. and byu is considered the state's flagship, not utah. they are pretty much the same enrollment.

i agree that penn state has a tougher pathway to the cfp than byu because michigan, ohio state, oregon, and usc are in the b10.

We’ll see what happens. The contingency plan looks exceptionally weak. Is there an NFL guy they want? I guess they could go for Brian Kelly, but that’s a lateral move IMO.

Urban Meyer was asked if he was interested in the Nebraska job after Frank was fired his answer was no if you fire a coach that just won 10 games neb has unrealistic expectations and Penn st is in a similar situation they fired a coach that was in the playoffs in 24 yes he struggled the first part of the season and im guessing that the nature of the beast in today’s College football world
