What's the deal with Luke Kromenhoek?

He got a few snaps early in the season, nothing the last few games. Is he hurt?

How much are we paying him?

I read somewhere we are redshirting him? That would be the most Mississippi State thing ever.

Can pretty much guarantee he will look at his other options for sure! Will probably end up starting for Western Michigan and throw for a mere 4,600 yards … with a last name like that, how can he not?

We’ve reach a new low. We’re not even wishing for the backup, we’re longing for the third stringer.

Very high six figures to hold a clip board. Remember the whiff on Jackson Arnold ? He was a face saving measure, but I’d rather that money have been used for a SG, PG , Wing on our basketball program.

I'd imagine he chose to redshirt when it was evident he was not our #2 QB.
so we paid him, what $300k to ride the bench? Get his a___ on punt team on something. We could have used that money on an D or O Lineman. And he'll be gone next year.

So we paid him (even though Heavy knew he had his established starting QB and the highly touted HS recruit)? How dumb is our evaluation team?

A lot more than 300k

And this is why I won’t give to football NIL until I trust the people giving it away to use it appropriately!

Baseball I completely trust now. Basketball I’m not so sure about anymore.
Basketball at this point is totally dependent on the 2 guys that stayed while the new guys try to mesh in.,it’s a slow process.

We spent big on him because he was the insurance policy for Shapen getting hurt early in the year before Kamario was close to ready. We just couldn’t trust Shapen to stay healthy given his history. Once he made it through half the year, and Kamario got more comfortable, his services weren’t needed. In this day and age players really WANT to redshirt if they aren’t certain to make the NFL. 5 years to make NIL bank vs just 4 years.

Could have gotten the same insurance policy with a more experienced qb at 10% the cost from G5

I tend to agree with you. We have too much invested in QBs and not enough in the OL and DL. But I do get the logic. When we missed on Jackson Arnold, they just more or less split the funds that were going to go to him between Kromenhoek and Shapen and buy two chances at SEC caliber QB play.

I will be quite surprised if he doesn’t roll out because it’s clear KT is the next dude. Thats assuming KT leaves and I would put that at 50/50 right now - wouldn’t blame him.

Exactly. You sign either Taylor or Kromenhauk. You can’t sign both. We’ve been paying the price for locking up so much money on 2 backups all season. Stupid.

If you remember it’s because all the buzz was Lebby was bringing in Arnold, when Arnold turned him down for Auburn , immediately he signs a developmental highly ranked kid who has no playing time from FSU. It was a knee jerk face saving measure, but as you said stupid misuse of a million dollars in nil, could have two solid O lineman for that or three good basketball starters.

I’ll be the contrarian. I think given that we could not trust Shapen to stay healthy, we should’ve brought in Kromenhoeck and KT and told Shapen thanks but we were moving on.

I was told by athletic department staff member that it was decided early on he would be redshirted to protect his eligibility unless an injury situation arose that required him to play. There was an undertone of portal but not overtly said. I did not press the issue.

Do you have a link to that ? You have read his nil, contract ? I don’t think so, these things are year to year

Exactly. He makes a little bit of change but not massive amount unless he plays. If he decides to stick around his 2 year rate goes up.

If he can read a defense, survey the field and hit an intermediate route he will be highly coveted. I don’t know if he can do that, if he can he should be playing. If he can’t then that would explain why he hasn’t played more.

I believe that, he had offers from Ga, Aggie, Missouri and ole Miss. if he gets offered big money I’m sure he’s gone.

this is a throw a way year, 1-7 in the sec, he should have just played the whole year. Wouldn’t have a worse record

Back to your reply to mine, based on in game coaching decision can Lebby even figure out he should be starting KT.
