What's the early word on your baseball team?

Haven't been around much lately and was wondering how the board felt about your team. I have always had an adversarial respect for your baseball program. Even as an OM fan, I have often listened to your games for many years. It was due, in part, to my love for baseball, to your history, but also to how Jim called the game. He is one of the best in the business.

I am not trolling. I serioulsy would like to know where you think your team will finish in the West. What do you think your conference record will be? What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Inexperience, I think that concern is well founded as it looks right now. You guys appear to have a very good team you really do need to fire bianco as rebel bruiser has said for the past two years. I hope we can grow up fast and get hot at
The right time.

I would love to see both of us dominate the West in baseball. That would be cool with me. My God, the rivalry would be insane.

As far as football and basketball is concerned, I hope you all suck until Jesus returns.

not overpowering, but a very respectable D1 staff. As young as we are, there are obvious concerns at the plate, but we hope that will improve as the season progresses. If not, it will be a struggle. I feel like we will be near the .500 mark in SEC play and should hopefully make postseason play on the road somewhere, sort of like last year. As far as our finish in the SECW, I would guess 4th.

I expect him to finally pick to a lineup, stick with it, and peak later in the year. I think we'll peak out in SEC play, make a regional and then lose in it. Probably finish 4th in the West behind LSU, Arky and Ole Miss. Maybe we'll peak at the end of the season like last year. Wouldn't bank on it though. I think our pitching will keep us in games. Pitching + defense is a better combination than just hitting IMO.

prior to starting conference play so he can see who is serviceable in what position and see what his options are in real game situations you would be right.

We are a young team and how kids play in practice verse games are two different things. He has a young crew and is seeing how they handle the pressures of non-conference games prior to conference play.

Our pitching is going to be our biggest strength. We will have the same problem as last year, if a team jumps out to a large lead, we will struggle at the plate trying to score a lot of runs.

and there is plenty of depth.......Problem is gonna be getting some guys innings.........There are a lot of new position players and they lack experience........They are talented but young........Defensively we'll be fine........Hitting is another story.........We're not gonna score a ton of runs and don't have a lot of power but early on have made good contact and got a lot of folks on base........Just have problems getting them in.........Again, pitching is the key to this teams success and I see them finishing either 3rd or 4th in the West and making a regional.....Getting past that point will be tough, however, the depth in the pitching staff is definitely a plus when it comes to tourneys and regional play........If folks are gonna beat us, they'd better do it now.......The next couple of years we should be very good.............</p>

We will do OK until we get to the SEC portion of our schedule when our "hitters" will struggle with SEC pitchers. Our pitching should be better than average but, as someone else said earlier, if we get behind we'll have a hard time making up runs.
