What's the highest ranking we have ever had in either the AP or Coaches Poll?

Didn't we get as high as #5 in one of the two major polls sometime during the early eighties before we lost to USM?

#7 in 1981 was the highest I can remember us being ranked. May have been ranked higher back in the pre-WWII era.

This website has a lot of great statistical info. You just have to change years and then change to the schedule and results. It gives the weekly poll result. Do not know what poll they use for the old ones but the 17ers are wrong on 1941. we were #1 that year, GD'it.

1940 - #9 in Final poll
1941 - #13 during season, #16 in final poll
1992 - #15
1993 - we were preseason ranked before our 3-6-2, WTF
1997 - we got up to #15 after whipping Auburn, @ Auburn.
1999 - #8
2010 - #15 final
