What's the latest on the baseball signee Shempert?..

Is he expected to be on the team come this fall?

he's taking the ACT again and is taking a correspondence class this summer.

We won't know for sure until August. Might know is July at the earliest.

There were some rumors that he would go pro if drafted. As of now, that hasn't happened.

If he doesn't get in, he goes to Meridian. If he does, that's great. As of now, I'm not expecting him to be a part of our team next year, but a lot of that is me being cautious and not disappointed if he doesn't make it and pleasantly surprised if he does.

We've had a nice class regardless with DuPont and Robson being drafted and Garner and Shelly being high end prospects. Cort Brinson is a nice pick-up as a walk-on as well. Getting Shempert would be icing on the cake.

all of our guys that were drafted in than we do of Shempert coming on board.

I think DuPont was surprised that he was drafted. I think he is trying to take it all in and enjoy it, but I think he will go to MSU. Robson has said several times that he wants to go to college.

DuPont is the only one I'm worried about- I think we have about a 70% chance of getting him. He can come to MSU and easily improve his stock and move up to the top 10 rounds. He will be in the competition to start right away with Detz, Britton, and Frost at second base. Frazier could very well leave after next year as well, so that would open up a spot as well.

But if neither Detz or DuPont can beat those two out, I'll be shocked. We're going to see some changes next year.</p>

I could really careless if we land Shempert or not. The kid is a cancer. Was kicked out of Houston High School for being a dumbshit. The people connected with Houston High have told me that the kid has absolutely no work ethic and has no respect for authority. Maybe 2 years @ CC would do him good. Right now...like you said Todd, it would be icing on the cake to pick him up. But me personally, I don't want the kid. We're overbooked as it is with quality guys. I know I don't speak for everyone though.
