The old ball coach? Bobby Johnson? Someone else? I think its safe to say the coaches in the SEC West will all be back.

The Ole Ball Coach will retire or move on if they do what they usually do what they do this time of year. I think if you lose Moreno and Stafford and expect not to go through some growing pains you are crazy, so I think Georgia keeps Richt. I think Bobby Johnson is gonna stay at Vanderbilt as long as they want him, or a bigger program comes along, because he is getting some good talent in the classes he is recruiting. Also, I think Rich Brooks retires soon, maybe even at the end of this year if he can go out with a bowl victory. I would say my top 3 is USC, UK, UGA.

I live in a city with a ton of South Carolina alumni, and they are ready to run Spurrier off. They are longing for the days of Lou Holtz. The talk on the radio here this week has been about how Spurrier seemed to be completely uninterested during the UT game.

I don't think they will fire him, but I could see him retiring to play golf.

as a Domer, I hope he bolts for South Bend asap. ND is winning just enough games this year to save Weis' ***. He'd better figure out a way to beat USC soon, though. If Urban left for ND, unfortunately for State and the rest of the SEC, though, Florida will not make another Zook-like mistake when hiring.

I think Richt's seat will be getting warm. Spurrier is probably close to getting tired. Brooks has already given notice, so he's probably only gonna be around 1-2 more years at the most. Honestly, I think Bobby Johnson bought himself a couple of years with that bowl game last year. Miles had better be careful - he nearly got in trouble with that disaster last year. LSU fans are now expecting top 10 every year.. he drops below that, he'll be gone.

Massive coordinator firings, try to bring on some assistants with big names but not necessarily big motivation.

that just happens to have a good university. *Yes I've been to South Bend 3 times* I don't care what he's said in the past...he's at his dream job. I'd be surprised if he wanted to go there. I hope he does next year.

Gainesville is a ******** (I've been there twice), and he seems happy there. He's going to ND one of these days. Book it.

and say UK. I could see Rich Brooks retiring and letting Joker Philips take the reigns.

Georgia will probably give Richt at least another year. Hopefully we warm his seat next year.

I think Spurrier will stay, and I think Bobby Johnson stays.

for any other college job...any other job is a step down from where he is right now. He may have coveted the ND job, but that was before he became the coach at Fla. After being at Fla, I think he is smart enough not to try and fight that battle he would have in bringing players to South Bend.

ND's days as a BCS-type power are over

Rict left after 2001. FSU won the whole thing in 1999 I think and went to the big game in 2001 against OU where it was Rict's last game. Face it FSU has gone downhill since then. Jimbo is running the offense right now but Papa Bobby is unwilling to let go. Their defense just cannot stop anybody. I think they may want to clean the whole house and not hire the coach in waiting.

I agree that Meyer probably won't leave Florida for Notre Dame. You just can't do any better than what he has built there. At least not these days. I disagree about ND's time as a BCS power being over. All it takes is one good coach to elevate a program like that back to supremacy. I don't really see it happening under Weis, but when they can him after next year all it will take is one good coaching hire and they're back at the top. Bottom line, no matter how bad they've been of late, Notre Dame is still Notre Dame. That name alone is gonna get them loads of talent every year. If you think about it that should really be one of the easier jobs in the country.

but may be a couple of years away. I think FSU and Kentucky might just let them all go even with Jumbo's M$5 clause.

They go 7-6 last year and kirk said 10-2 and lou said NC for this year. The media will keep them relevant no matter what cause the are Notre Dame. I know i was not old enough of their glory days but they have been average for a while now right? All Meyer would have to do is beat OSU and USC and he gets a bronze statue of himself and he gets immortalized like WinDawg said . seems a hell of a lot easier than competing each week in the SEC

They have higher admission standards than other schools and they play in the cold. They arent going to get the guys that Fla, USC, Bammer, LSU, Texas and those guys get anymore. They are falling by the wayside much like Big Ten football- can't get the skill people and DL players that they used to get.

I think Meyer stays at Fla awhile. I think Saban is more likely to end up in South Bend at this point

He really has no loyalty to anyone. I think he likes the cult leader status he has at Bama, but if he can win a NC or two there, I could see him wanting to take on another challenge. His Dad was known to move around quite a bit, plus Saban is from the north- I know he coached at a MAC school (Kent State?) and Michigan State, so he obviously wouldn't mind living there.

I do think ND needs a college coach and not a pro coach who has been out of the game if they want to get back to the elite. Someone like Meyer, Saban, Bob Stoops, dare I say Chris Petersen even though he is Morman, or Cincinnati's coach who's name is escaping me right now. Those would probably be the guys I would go after if I was running the ND search committee. Maybe even Dan Mullen in a couple of years. (Ok, that was wooly)

Why does NBC still keep the contract to show only ND's games? (i think thats correct info) seems like they are missing out on a much larger viewership and a lot of money turning down other games/conferences

people in New York City and Chicago- two of America's largest TV markets- watch them.

If New York had a USC type team, ND may not have the contract. But I don't see that happening to Rutgers or UConn anytime soon.

in the Midwest, they are still very popular. And there are alot more TV viewers in the Midwest than there are in the South. While still a media darling, kids in the South or Cali dont much give a **** about ND anymore.

Bama will match anyone dollar for dollar, they are top 2 historical programs (along with ND). I never really understood the Saban-hate. He didnt do anything abnormal for a coach. He went from Mich State to LSU, an upward move. Then he succeeded there and went to the pros, nothing abnormal there (Jimmie Johson, Steve Spurrier, etc.) When he realized he couldn't do it in the pros, he went to Bama to win more NC's. Nothing seems abnormal about his moves to me. He's going NOWHERE.

Good point about ND. However, I would still think that there are plenty of highly talented guys from the Midwest/Northeast that would love to go South Bend if they were the program they once were. But then again, you do have a good point about the Big Ten's drop-off in talent lately. I know the region has to still be putting out alot of talent. Where are all these guys going?

but he has yet to stay anywhere longer than 5 years....his "style" runs a little thin at about that time.

I could see Saban making that move, especially with his Northern ties.

every move he's made as been up, with the ovious exception of going back to college ball. Notre Dame may have a bigger national fanbase, but from Bama it's still basically a lateral move.
