Meyer would be crazy to leave a premier SEC school for a middling independent has-been. I'm guessing he will have a Stoops-at-Oklohama type of run at Florida, as in 10 years or more. Meyer doesn't leave UF for Notre Dame. I would book that.

One the one hand you've got the south, warm weather, water, beautiful women, etc. On the other you've got higher admission standards, cold weather, you're in the middle of nowhere, fat smart girls, etc. Face it, most of the bit time players are going to Florida, LSU, Texas, Bama, USC, etc, not Notre Dame. Meyer is smart enough to understand this. While Notre Dame is still a media darling, everybody with sense knows that Notre Dame is doing about as well as it can right now. That program will never be what it once was.

This invalidates anything else you say. Even with a ****** coach, ND is ranked. If they ever wake up and hire a real coach, they will easily get back in the top 10. They are still recruiting well, again, with a dumbass coach.

Richt has pulled Croom and refused to make changes to his coaching staff. He claims that UGA has told him there must be a change in coaching on both sides of the ball and he has said, "if they go, I go."

He said there has been a lot of talk about Richt to Florida State and that many of the alumni at UGA would be happy to see him go.

It will make for an interesting end of the season if Richt gets into a chess match with UGA, Georgia big money guys, and then you throw FSU into the mix.

how did Notre Dame recruit so well in the 80's and early 90's? The weather was still cold and the admission standards were still high. There is some serious hate for the Irish on this board. Let me guess, you're going to play the "cheat" card.

Cold weather and ugly girls? You can do better than that. Michigan, Ohio State, etc. seem to recruit pretty well, and they have the same lack of hotness. ND's class was #2 in 2008. Even #14 in 2009 isn't shabby. So far in 2010, they are top 20 or so. And this is with that fatass Weis. If ND gets a big-time recruiter in there, they'll be back to the top.

And the fact that you are using Colin Cowherd as your source should make you wonder.

can you get a lap dance and pancakes at the same place within 40 miles of South Bend?
No, but the Midwest is dotted with strip joints full of lap dancers who look like they eat piles of pancakes every day.

but may be a couple of years away. I think FSU and Kentucky might just let them all go even with Jumbo's M$5 clause.

Nutt has through 2012 minimum. Most of our fans realize we're going to be really young in 2010, and we're playing for 2011/2012 right now.

I don't think any coaches lose their job or quit after this year. Brooks at UK may be the closest if he decides to ride out on his own after this year.

Miles, Richt, and Spurrier are the only ones that may hear rumblings, but it won't be enough for them to get axed this year.

they still recruited well in the 80's because racism was still a factor much more than it is now. The SWAC had some hellacious players back in the 70's and 80's. More top tier kids would go North to play and escape. Now they dont have to. Players can go to Central Fla now and go in the 1st round- they dont have to run North. The improvement and equality of education in the South has helped caused an explosion by the SEC

Then TV really exploded. ND used to be one of the few games you could watch on a Saturday in the 1970's. That popularity carried over into the 1980's. Plus, Holtz was a pretty damn good coach. But with every team in America on TV each Saturday, kids don't have to go to ND for NFL exposure.

They were still elite then, they arent now. The media trys to keep them elite, but they arent.

Richt won't be back at FSU, their fans and administration are completely sold on Jimbo Fisher. Their offensive numbers right now are in the top 5 in their school's history, and he's developed a marginal QB last year into one of the top QB's in the nation. Their D is only better than Washington St amongst FBS BCS schools, if they had a top 60 defense they'd be undefeated.
Saban's not going anywhere, he's had his NFL fix and is settled now. I think Meyer would make a move before Saban, Meyer's ego is way to big and I could see him wanting to get credit for turning ND around or trying to make the spread work in the NFL (not that anyone in the NFL would pursue him).
Spurrier and Brooks are the most likely, and I think they stay for another year.
