My barber used to work at the Officers Club on the old Navy base here. Some lieutenant came in 10 minutes before closing time and wanted a steak. Everything was already put away since no customer had come in for an hour. There was a ribeye in the trash (in a doggie bag that wasn't picked up). The cook pulled it out,washed it off, threw it on the grill for a couple of minutes, and served it to the guy. He demolished it, and told the server he'd be back the next night at the same time for a steak just like that one he just ate.
Whenever Mr Gray meets up with the old crew, they tell that story to anybody who would listen to them.
