@aaronfitt: Re: Kendall Graveman "purpose pitch." Wow. RT @RandyRosetta: Mainieri: 'I can't respect people who do things like that. I just never will.'

I didn't watch the game, so what is he referring to?

ETA other reactions
@matthewcstevens: I asked MSU coach John Cohen if he wished to respond to LSU coach Paul Mainieri's comments on the 1st pitch to Katz: "No response".

@wes_rea: A lot of talk about a ball that never hit anybody.....

Mainieri needs to STFU....Kendall was just sending a message, if he wanted to hit him he would have hit him. Grow a pair Mainieri, this is 17ing baseball.

Katz flipped his bat and "pimped" his 2nd HR Friday night.

He should have expected it on Saturday or Sunday.

This is why baseball is the most ***** sport around. Resentment is a good enough reason to send a fastball at someone.

if he didnt he should have. whether or not he showed anyone up afyer a homerun is irrelevant. if a guy is that hot then you move his feet and make him a little uncomfortable in the box.

just like layin down a **** to get a pitcher off the mound when he's dealin. it is what it is...baseball.

ha, totally agree w/the Rebel

I have no problem w/a hair cut or brush back vs MSU or not. Its part of the game, gah don't become like the future pussified NFL

Eh, you don't throw at someone's head. You throw at their body. You don't want the risks that come with throwing at someone's head.

But, I didn't watch, and didn't see it in real time.

For all of LSU's mommy scolding concerning this incident...

....you know good & well if LSU & MSU meet up in the SECT, LSU will retaliate by throwing at our hottest hitter in the tournament. That's what pisses me off about these sanctimonious ******** lecturing people on the evils of throwing at a HR threat. Retaliation is coming, either this season or next year. That's just the way baseball is played.

They sound like a bunch of whiney vaginas after getting their *** kicked. It sounds a lot the talk we heard after the infamous "dogpile" incident after winning the SEC tourney against them in whatever year that was.

ETA: Furthermore, looking at the box score and pbp, I see where Mr. Katz struck on that at bat. Advantage Graveman.

Their coach said that we were tired of losing to them....

didn't we put their asses out of the tourney last year? 2-2 the last four games we played....Everyone in the conference knows exactly how freaking bat **** crazy most of their fan-base acts at sporting events.

We put them in the loser's bracket before we eliminated them. So, actually 3-2.

Ball should have been directed at his back instead of the head, but at any rate it seems like alot of sour grapes after that one pitch basically shut Katz down for the entirity of game 3.

I thought y'all were blowing this out of proportion until I watched this video

What is bush league is the ******** by the people interviewed. The pitch was high and behind him, but hell, he didn't even have to duck. And if flipped his bat after hitting a home run then he should have expected a reaction

And like someone else said, the irony of LSU players and coaches lecturing any "program" about class is beyond ironic. Screw those pricks. I don't know who they play next week, but if I were pitching I'd be tempted to do the same exact thing at that kid's first Ab. And then just giggle from the mound.

I'm pretty sure will ***** slap Mainieri one day soon. And FYI, if Graveman wanted to hit someone, he wouldn't miss.

Lsu next two series are auburn and Missouri. They won't throw at nothing but bats.

last 8 games we're 4-4. Besides, we own the overall series by a good margin over the last over 100 years.

Can someone PLEASE find the video of Mainieri from the SEC tourney last year pouting and looking like he was about to cry against us in the elimination game? I remember it so vividly but haven't seen it online. Think he was mad about all the pitching changes we were making everytime they'd start to get in a rhythm...

He was, and made a bigger deal about that than he did someone throwing at his star's head.

Again, don't agree with locating pitches around the head, but doubt it was intentionally to hit him in the head either.

I don't blame Mainieri for being upset, but it's going to happen again- now and when Katz is in the minors/majors.
