Some of you need to quit your complaining about the Kentucky Thursday night game. Unlike the OK State game, this one makes sense. We play Bowling Green the week before and we are on the road at South Carolina the week after. In the context of us having a chance to win games, this schedule is good for us. A couple of extra days to prepare for South Carolina can only help. Plus Thursday night atmospheres, although inconvenient, are usually pretty good. Give me Thursday night over 11:00 AM anytime.

Agree. 11 o'clock games suck in so many ways. I will gladly make the trip up Thursday afternoon and drive back late that night to avoid the 11 o'clock game with a bad atmosphere. Davis Wade will be rocking for a SEC night game...especially a night game we should win. I like it.

Agree. Thursday > 11:00 Saturday--and that's what this game would be otherwise.

Agree. Coming from the coast, I'd much rather take Friday off and use leave than have to get up at 0400.

For programs like MSU and Ole Miss, Thursday is always better. Always.

11:00 >> Thursday night unless you live within a 1 to maybe 2 hour drive of Starkville. I'm personally pretty much done with Thursday night games unless the game has huge implications so my KY tickets will go on the selling block. Ends up costing a day or more off work plus trying to get my son out of school. Just a major logistical headache that I can live without. Agree it makes for a better game atmosphere than the 11:00 games but that is the ONLY plus for me. At least with the 11:00 games after its over I can enjoy campus and the area for the rest of the day, Thursday games provide none of that. But that's OK, I'll just take Thursday nights in from now on watching from my HDTV.

Geez.

I live in Madison, and it is nothing to leave work at 3:00 and get to the game.....then leave after the game and be home between 12:00 and 1:00. We have fans that will complain about ANYTHING. This isn't all directed at you...but everybody needs to realize that we will NEVER have a schedule that is all 5:30pm kickoffs on Saturdays, where the crowd is electric, and the old folks can get home in time for bed at 9 o'clock. We are getting exposure, which is always a plus.

Please just make sure some young energetic folks that don't mind staying up til midnight one 17ing night a year get those tickets man.

Not trying to jump on you, because I like your posts generally, but the fact that we can't all look at a night game on ESPN as a positive is beyond me. It's not a Tuesday night CUSA shitfest, Thursday night games get great viewership...just be a little drowsy at work on Friday and then recover over the weekend.

Maybe I'm out of line on this.

I have to admit it's a bee-ach to drive 5 hours to a home game on Thursday night. You have to leave work early, and either get back at 4:00 am and work on one hour sleep, or miss Friday am too. For road games, it's basically a deal killer to miss 2 days of work. To me, half the fun is the pre/post game hanging out at the J or in town. If we lose, it's the only fun/consolation. I stay at least one night for every game, and often two (Friday and Sat) for 11:00am games. With 11:00am games, a win means a big after party, and you often get to meet some of the players who come out for the celebration.

I can definitely understand missing if you are 4 plus hours away, but to be honest with you, I would have trouble making any games if I was 5 hours from Starkville...much less Thursday nights.

So bravo to you for making however many games you DO make living that far away

No kidding. For all the bitching about how people can't make it to a Thursday game, somehow the attendence and atmosphere always turn out to be good. We have got some of the whiniest fans I've ever seen.

I've quit complaining about it I'm just not going. I have a 3.5 hour drive each way and the last time I came back after the game (2010 Auburn) it took me until 3:00 in the morning to get back home plus a speeding ticket because it took me nearly and hour and a half just to clear Starkville because of everyone trying to get back home at the same time. So even if I go and leave my son at home, where he doesn't miss any school, I'm in no good mood to go to work the next day myself so it ends up costing, best case, some of Thursday afternoon work plus getting in quite late on Friday. Like I said if its a game with big implications I might be willing to tough it out but not for KY when I can just avoid all the headaches and watch from my living room. And again, like I said, with a Thursday night game I lose the other things I enjoy doing on campus or in the area that you get before or after a game on the weekends. Believe me, while I realize that MSU has to do some things that SEC power schools don't to get an edge, if it was such a positive to have a Thursday night home game on ESPN we wouldn't essentially be one of the only SEC teams doing it. Heck, its hard to remember the last time even OM was willing to move one to Thursday.

Don't really prefer one over the other. It's just that I can't normally attend a Thurs night game.

That usually pisses me off a little bit before the season has actually started, but I'll be honest. For someone with a small child who attends pretty much all home games and a road game or two each year, not being able to go to a Thurs night game is a nice break at times.

As far as 11AM games go, I hate not being able to tailgate all that much as much as the next guy, but the thing I hate even more than that is the possibility of losing that early game and then not being able to enjoy the rest of the Sat games due to being pissed off. Losing on Thurs gives you time to move on in most cases. Losing a Sat morning game pretty much ruins my weekend, though.
