What's up with Wolf? What happened to him?

He was looking so fantastic earlier in the season and completely disappeared from the team. Did I miss some news?

Yeah, the competition level changed.

He will be much better next year and playing a lot more minutes.
I'm surprised he not get much of ANY time as I thought his movement around the rim and at least his Defense was going to get him some time. Hard to show much or develop against this better competition when you only get 1 minute and watching our interior D of late. (not complaining just wondering others thoughts)

You can't judge players by what they do in the tune up games. He is not ready for Big 10 competition.
yeah wow. I just went back and looked at the box scores of all the B1G games and saw this isn't a recent thing as I thought. He hasn't really played much or done anything in the Conf. games. Don't know why I thought he had played more and better earlier league games. Got it guys.

I've said this since earlier this season, that Woolf is probably going to be my favorite player on the team in years to come. But right now the game is too fast for him and he is getting absolutely torched on the defensive side of the ball, and Pike is slightly more tolerant of offensive lapses than defensive ones. Woolf and Reiber both have problems boxing out, and that's another no-no for Pike (understandably so). I've heard a few pros say that the transition from high school to college is more difficult than from college to the pros, in both football and basketball, due to the drastic difference in the speed of the game. Woolf will get there.

Dean is out playing him. Wolf is also a freshman, same with Derick. You guys forget how hard it is for most freshman to adapt. He honestly is a 4 to me not a 5. We need another 5 for next season.
I see where you’re going here, but in today’s day and age, Wolf is not a 4 because he can’t shoot from the perimeter.

I think what he is, is an undersized and inexperienced 5.

If only by default, I would expect him to get some time Thursday night if Michigan plays Dickinson and Reed together like they did against Michigan State last night. Both were very active in that game and Reed seems to be coming on strong. Wolf has a better frame to offer some resistance than Oskar or Dean. Regardless it would appear to be advantage Michigan. The question is how big?

Coaching college athletes involves much more than Xs and Os, of course. For example, freshman forward/center Antwone Woolfolk was enjoying a promising campaign and then had to cope with the death of his grandmother.

“There are things no one realizes,” Pikiell said. “Woolf’s grandma died and he’s struggling with that. His grandma raised him, and he’s a great kid. You go through stuff like that.”

This makes way more sense. I have not seen Reiber outplaying him. Wishing him all the best.

Think his biggest issue limiting his minutes has been committing bad fouls very quickly once he's in the game. If he can cut down there he may earn more time on the floor.

Didn't we all say the same thing about Mag this time last season? :)
hey. I'm not down on the kid. I think all the comments have been spot on. and the grandma thing .. there have been times last few games I just wish he was in there defending the lane/rim for us perhaps even with Cliff in there cause we needed stops more than points. All good.

I still think of basketball in terms of the 80s and 90s NBA when it was a real product, but that's another discussion.

"McConnell spent the game on the floor of Rutgers’ locker room."

Those are Carino's words. That's funny- he was shown riding an assault-type bike behind the RU bench. 😂

That's funny, he must have been tipped off and edited the article. I directly copied and pasted from the article linked above.

Article says: Published 11:57 a.m. ET, updated 2:33 p.m. ET

So about 20 minutes after you posted he edited. I guess he really does check this board to see how his articles are received. It does make sense that he would do it.
