Lot of people on the boards say winning is all that matters. Back before NIL, there were some saying we should have paid Cam the 180k and pay other players under the table, they didn't care if we got caught after we won the big game. Now we still have people saying do whatever we want to field a winning team and don't worry about any consequences.

So I ask this...if this were MSU in LSU's shoes would you be ok with it if it meant we made the college playoffs even if the threat was very real we get those wins vacated and hammered with penalties? Would 1-2 years of being an elite team justify all the costs and being drug through the mud afterwards?

Seems like every conference Texas join gets ****** up. None of this happen before they joined. They probably latched on to Stankings nuts and causing all the issues. All this is over two guys who would not make LSU any better than they are now. Texas always want to rule the conference they are in. I have a feeling they are behind a lot of the stink.

I don’t like the coach, the school, or much of the fan base but hard for me to point to what LSU has done wrong in terms of the rules. Seems like for most of the issues there are no rules, and if there are rules nobody understands them. If anything hopefully LSU’s actions are accelerating a solution to the problem of where college athletics is today.

Intelligible players are playing everywhere. I'm glad the SEC is trying to enforce rules but I question why they are just doing it now. Why not stop teams from recruiting players off of other rosters in season? Why let schools play players the NCAA has ruled ineligible? How is rostering these ineligible players a travesty while other ineligible players are preseason all americans?

Ha, once either school (aub or lsu) in this scenario becomes MSU there's no longer a "threat" as it becomes a mathmatical inevitability. Hell, the ncaa basically escorted aub into the NC game even after the rev. newton "neither confirmed nor denied". Different rules for different schools. State would be DOA wearing either of these shoes.

interesting question, and interesting responses that made me think, technically speaking, LSU has done nothing wrong. Alot of this chaos is b/c the higher ups and governing authority have not set proper guardrails and boundaries.........so removing the emotional aspect, LSU is just pushing to the exact outer limits of the current governing rules (? correct?).

That said, back in the day, Jackie Sherrill was considered one of the most dangerous and outlandish hires (that's how the media portrayed it to an extent), but he didn't bring a circus with him (yes, I am considering the clown costume and his time at children's hospitals).......Lane on the other hand, I just don't know (knowing all we know now) if I would want his clown show chaos.

I find myself thinking, when all is said and done, LSU could be in shambles.....and Ole Miss took a hit, but may be lucky in the long run to be shed of him

These are kind of two different questions to me. I would rather play by the rules....but I accept that State was paying players before NIL, and I would just rather not know about it. We obviously weren't paying as much as some others out there.

The LSU stuff doesn't bother me too much, except that once the SEC drew a line you just obey it. Which is what State did with Manning and Sylla. No problem with them pursuing an injunction for an extra year, but once the SEC said no one who had signed a contract could come back, then that was the end of that. LSU should have just let them know they would need to look elsewhere.

Interesting that you mention Texas, since they have a player who was in NFL minicamps but never signed a contract with anyone. I still don't see how signing a contract is what makes the big difference here, but that's where they decided to draw the line.

I've pointed this out before, but you are discounting the negative consequences that come with associating with such a poisonous, villainous hive of wretchedness as the Auburn athletic department. Anyone who is stuck living and playing in that godforsaken atmosphere obviously learns how to cheat and just be a generally weird dipshit later in life.

If he had stayed committed here (read: had we paid Dad and the preacherman), he would be in the NFL hall of fame already, not to mention he probably would have won 12 Walter Payton awards in a row for being such a damn fine scholar and gentleman.

I'm not advocating going full black hat, but the programs who are successful are out there figuring out how to operate in the gray areas. And some of the NCAA's haphazard decisions create a lot of gray area for teams to operate in.

Ten years ago, you wouldn't see Ole Miss, for example, judge shop to get a favorable injunction so that their clearly ineligible quarterback can get an extra season. But with all the rule changes that the NCAA keeps putting in place and shuffling around, it creates ambiguity that can be leveraged.
