Looking for new places to try around the state and always looking for new places in Lexington where I live. In Lexington, my favorite right now is Windy Corner Market. As for the rest of the state, I don't know that I have a favorite but I always enjoy Old Hickory and Moonlite BBQ in Owensboro. And the porkchop at Patti's Settlement.

My favorites in Lexington are Saul Good and Proud Mary's. Both involved lots of beer so my opinion may be a bit skewed, but enjoyed food at both.

Me my wife enjoyed Saul Good. Wouldn't know about the beer options, neither of us drink. Haven't heard of Proud Mary's.

Windy Corner is great. There's more more restaurants by Chef Ouita Michel, Holly Hill Inn in Midway, Wallace Station in Versailles and Smithtown Seafood on West 6th.
Red State BBQ - BBQ dive at an old motel on US 25 Georgetown Road w/ beer cheese grits

Lexington - Tony's, Ramsey's, Merrick Inn, Brookings Chili (RIP)

Louisville - Jeff Ruby's, Jack Frys, Proof, Havana Rumba, Alley Cat Cafe, and about 100 other places

Simpsonville - Brenda's (hole in the wall joint with horrible service and an actual bullet hole in the front door…but good food) JT's (for their stromboli), whatever the authentic mexican joint is called on Shelbyville Rd. where they look funny at all gringos who dine there but haven't killed anyone...yet

Frankfort - Rick's White Light Diner, Cliffside's, Gibby's, Azelia's, Saylor's (RIP)

Shelbyville - Claudia Sanders

Owensboro - Bill's

Hoptown - Harper House

LBL Area - Patti's (2" pork chop and the pies)

NKY - The Boathouse (yeah, i know it's across the ditch…so what? I like their ribs)

Not easy to say favorite because I don't know how to compare casual places with fancy places. I like them both, in different ways.

I do know that I have always loved Jack Fry's. Just my kind of place. I've never really been disappointed with Mussel Burger Bar in Louisville as well.

In Lexington, my favorite used to be Yamaguchi, but it closed (although I have heard a rumor of a joint venture between them and Jonathan Lundy in the future).

I'll always like Giuseppes. I think Tony's is probably the best quality food in town.

Lexington Diner is good. And I like places like Taqueria Ramirez. Just a hole in the wall but good food. Same for the Indi's/Richie's duo. Winchells is always good.

Giuseppe's in Lexington. I haven't eaten there in four years but I never had a bad meal there.

Never been to tony's. But my dad works with the chef's wife so my parents are there like twice a month. Matter of fact, them and my brother were there for his birthday on monday.

I am obviously not the favorite son.

Doe's Eat Place in Paducah. Steakhouse that has big cuts and a la carte sides.

Agree! My husband works primarily overseas; we travel a lot and have eaten in many restaurants in many places. Doe's is my husband's favorite restaurant. I love it too.

The original Doe's is in Mississippi and was started in the front room of an amazing black chef's family's house. They pride theirselves on using the best aged meat and cooking it perfectly.

Anyone coming to Paducah should do their self a favor and eat at Doe's. PS. You need to take 2-3 people with you and order the 3-4 lb sirloin. Make sure you ask for extra bread to sop up the juice.
