My god. I don't want to be associated with those people. The "shelter" people put themselves in is ridiculous. Don't come in my section, I'll be the drunk screaming, cussing, and hey blue hair I know more football than you do. Whew, I fell better now. Ready for football and bourbon.

Some of the stuff that those guys complain about. What's next? Removing H-E-L-L from the fight song? Those 17'ers just make me want to drink more at games and yell these chants even louder.

That a place like the pack exists. %+## these pathetic excuses for fans. For me, the line is whiskey showers. You throw your cup of ice and you're a $%%!#%+ degenerate, but anything less than that is fine.

I had a few of those get upset with me about my cowbell when I was ringing it at the prescribed time this last season. Those are the same folks that told me my language towards Cam Newton during the AU game was inappropriate. Come on it is college football and more importantly the SEC!

up to the early 70`s when Bob Tyler at least showed that we could compete if we were willing to make the commitment. MSU hasa long history ofadministration , an athletic department and fans that have been more than willing to accept mediocrity as the BEST we could do. There are still many relics left around from those days. I get pissed every time I think about it. And while I`m at it ...... 17 LT.

This doormat mentality is pitiful. "I'm so sorry we beat you... here, let me buy you an ice cream."

It's "unclassy" and apparently, non-Christian to sing "...We just beat the hell out of you."

Never mind that our FIGHT SONG, which has been around for God knows how long, insists that we yell like H-E-L-L... but that's, apparently, A-Okay. Got it.

but not surprising at all.
That thread hits all the high notes. Self-righteousness. Numerous "That's better left for _teams-that-seem-to-win-a-lot_ fans" references. Widespread character judgments based on individuals' ability to say "Hell" in public. Back-in-my-day nostalgia clouded by time (and ********). Sensible posts fighting a losing battle. An overall attitude best summed up:

I guess it's easier to claim the moral high ground when you're losing.

I don't mind the chant. But I don't like having my kids hear drunk arses yelling stupid obscenities just to hear themselves or thinking others think they're cool because they know the "f" bomb or some other 4-lettered word. Do I cuss? Sure. Needlessly? No. It's like pulling your wanker out: there's a time and a place.

There is way too much enthusiasm in college athletics. Too many people are getting their feelings hurt with folks cheering the advantages the other teams bad plays create for their team.
God forbid.

that people over there care about the cheer or that you started a thread about it over here.

So I don't participate.
I have no control over what other people want to do at a football game.

And no, I don't have blue hair, although I'm about the size of your average Smurf.

over a GP post (barely remembered my old login) but I'm pretty sure that guy was being sarcastic and saying the same things we are. From later in the post:<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; color: rgb(77, 0, 0); font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; ">

Wouldn't it be better for all of us if we just quit putting so much emphasis on the score and let teams take turns advancing and going to Omaha. That way teams like Ole Miss who otherwise would never get to go can know what it feels like to play for a National Championship, except that we should probably give everyone a trophy.

When we start taking things so seriously that such things as a joyful ditty at the end of a championship run is a source of concern then college sports is a problem for you.

How does blue hairs complaining about cussing any different than the complaints about blue hairs? Both blue hairs complaining and drunk folks yelling 17 every 3-4 words are obnoxious as hell and pieces of ****. I guess I don't see the difference in the two types of fans.

If you think it's okay to yell out the f word in a mixed crowd of people, your an effen idiot.
