And by upset, I'm meaning a game that as of right now, we likely won't be favored.

I'm going Kentucky on the road.

1. Kentucky
2. Vanderbilt
3. Auburn
4. Ga Tech

I think we get at least 2 of those and probably 3

Sans GA Tech. Yea, if we beat any of those three other teams, they will be "upsets." When I think of upset, im thinking LSU, Florida, Bama, GA Tech and UM. I think we will beat one of those four. Bama and UF are my two most likely candidates now. I will say this, for us to go bowling this year, we need to start 3-0.

You're reading comprehension sucks. The thread starter clearly defined an upset as "a game in which we will likely not be favored." That probably covers UK, Auburn, and GA Tech this season. I will agree starting 3-0 is a must for any bowl hopes.

When Carl Walters of the Clarion Ledger would say in his Sunday column that MSU "certainly won a moral victory yesterday" by beating a 21 or 28 point spread. Thing is, that's about the best we could hope for in those days.

almost all of their starters as well. That game will be very tough.

Also, one FYI...Ga Tech plays 3 SEC teams this year. That has to be a record for a non-sec school.

i wouldn't consider auburn an upset. the tommy tuberville bastardizing tony franklin's system experiment is over, but the team just looked weak beyond being beat by everyone. i say we beat them handidly and we shake up the west. we could beat LSU at home this year. but we never play them well so i'm not holding my breath.

almost any win outside of Jackson State could be an upset. I think we beat GaTech or one SEC team at home. Any of those games would be an upset. Honestly, a win over Houston could be an upset.

I'm more worried about us just making it to 4 wins and not losing to Houston or MTSU. Since Houston could easily be the favored team by that time in the season. 3 games we must win are JSU, MTSU, Houston. Then we must win atleast one game between either Kentucky and Vandy.

My upset pick is going to have to be Auburn. I think that game is pivotal since Mullen and chizik are first year coaches at their schools and a win can set the tone for the series for the next few years while these coaches are at the helm.

My one game I think we play very strongly but then pull the U.S. second half choke job will be against Florida. I see us putting up an early fight and then getting pounded in the end.

but I'm going to go on a little bit of a limb and go with Georgia Tech. I went to the game last year, and it was a comedy of errors to say the least. I really think our defense quit after they scored their second TD. I'm picking this game because I think we will have an offense that can stand a chance in a shootout. Plus, we will be at home.

My second pick- Florida. When was the last time they won in Starkville? Heck, when was the last time they beat someone from Mississippi? Even Croom beat them in Starkville. I think they overlook us aGAIN, and we surprise them and ruin their season.

Then Jesus Tebow goes off on a rant that gets enshrined on some building at UF and they win the NC over Ohio State.

I would say Vandy if they were in the second half of the season, but they are our third game. Vandy is usually good for their first four or five games. I picked Kentucky because we have had close games against them the last few years.

I realize that barring a major break down in the space time continuum Ole Miss will be the better team come the Egg Bowl but considering the Egg Bowl is what it is, would us beating them be an "upset" or just further proof that there are no sure things as far as the Egg Bowl goes? For people outside of Mississippi it would be for sure but as far as the series goes stranger things have happened and it not be deemed an "upset". That beeing said I think we beat Auburn and UK. GTech will work us and so will Florida, Bama and most likely Ole Miss.

I say we beat these bastards @ home by a combination of being lucky that day, it being a rivalry game, our crowd going nuts when we score first or last & getting a few lucky calls or plays that go our way.

Or it may be possible that a small hurricane blows thru DW stadium and blocks ole miss' winning field goal attempt with no time left on the clock (sarcasm).

iF we don't win that one, the season is over...if we win it 19-17, we won't get an upset...if we win 35-x, we will have an upset over UM or LSU

hard to believe its been 10 years since state's beat them. that was a helluva saturday afternoon. if i remember right, the reflector cited a whole lot of damage to rv's and tailgate spots the monday after that game.

anyway, i think you may be onto something with this....

upsets and covering the spread are the same things. Remember? I'd link it, but all the editing done on it makes it less worthwhile.

bet you for control of the board for a week that SCwould have a top 20 defense in 2008 (and finished 13th by the way)- and you dropped out after seeing what they did vs Georgia in week 2- I don't see you ever bringing that up

obviously you have DS by the balls. What are you complaining about?

My dropping out had nothing to do with USC, after watching us play Auburn, my college football interest went to zero.

I was, but that doesnt excuse anything. I can take the ribbing, just don't whine and complain when I give it back. And too many on here do. They like to dish it, but when it blows up in their face- like SC finishing 13th, or us scheduling UCLA like I said we should, for example- they can't take it
