UK ‘87-‘91
I applied for housing late and UK dorms were full. If they were full, they didn’t care where you lived. I never lived in a dorm.
I had several girlfriends in Blanding Tower, Donovan, and whatever old hell holes that were on north campus.
-Shared the bottom floor of an old Victorian with two other guys. My room was previously the dining room. I brought my own window unit A/C. It was behind Calvary Baptist on Rodes ave. The church was my landlord. It’s a parking lot now. I did my laundry in Holmes Hall.
-Crappy apt on Versailles close to Mason Headley. I liked that it had a pool, but lots of real life going on there. I was not a fan as a student.
-Two Lakes by Henry Clay hs. The ads in the Kernel worked.
-Cloister’s by Tate’s Creek golf course.

I worked in Frankfort right out of UK 1988-90. To be relatively close to work and still live in Lexington, and also save money as my first job was not all that well paying, I ended up living in apartments in the Versailles Rd. / Alexandria Drive area.
Not the absolute worst part of Lex, but certainly not that prestigious either.
The first place I lived was just bad. I moved to a somewhat nicer complex a few blocks and my brother lived with me for most of the time so it was a better experience.
Two Lakes was a pretty nice place back in the day.
The only apt that seemed that way at the time was the one on Versailles.
The rest were just places that college kids lived.
My oldest son went on a campus tour at the end of last semester. We killed time and drove by my old addresses. My son was not impressed by my old digs either.
The one off maxwell is a parking lot. The Versailles one really is hoodish.
Two Lakes on the reservoir is gone. A few newer condos, but mostly an empty lot.
The last one by the golf course had a playground where the tennis courts used to be.
Then again, almost all the remnants of the old dorms are all gone too.

EKU 93-97. RA in Todd and Dupree Halls—which have since been razed— during the transition to coed dorms. Off campus apt last two years.

I had a good run avoiding the real world as long as possible. UK is the only school I care about. UK had prettiest girls, Arizona best bodies, WVU sluttiest, OSU ugliest by a mile.
