a friend of mine questioned why we paid him the same as LT. I agreed. We could have paid him less because I think he wanted the job regardless. Dare to say in his first 1/2 year on the job, he has definitely earned that salary.

he's earned his salary then some. He took Polk out and brought in an honest to God coach that wants to win the CWS and will recruit to do that.

Now why did my Derek Dooley post get locked ? ha ha ha

As long as he can come through on landing a new football coach, he should get a big raise.

I think he is going to be great for MSU, and I think he will be a great AD for years to come.

However, he did give Croom a 80+% raise last year when he was not in danger of losing him to another program. Wasn't that a mistake? If so, wasn't that a pretty big mistake?

Templeton negotiated the Croom ******** salary increase/extension. Byrne honored it.

Templeton got that whole thing set up. It was all done but the signing when Byrne took over. Realistically, it would have been impossible to step in at the last minute and nix it. Had he done that, there would have been a major division among MSU fans with Byrne's position difficult to defend before it was known that this year would be a disaster.

It is probably a really good thing for MSU to develop the reputation that good results=coinage for the coach and staff.

Im guessing he gets a portion from the University, and a nice chunck from the Bulldog Club, Bulldog Foundation, etc.

But when it comes time to give him a raise, who makes that call?
