can...
damien..i've explained and yes what i'm saying is true we got down to one slot left and thought we had somebody nutt thought was better. fell thru and we shot ourselves in the foot....i'll admit nobody knows for sure who would have signed him regardless but that's how it went down.the OB situation for us is so screwed its hard to know how to deal with the kids there.

bumphis....i'll admit i don't know but was told way early that for some reason we weren't high on him. maybe we knew early we wouldn't get him. he clearly can play and i wish we had him.

rjohnson...as far as i know we would liked to have signed him and i never heard anybody credible say otherwise.

carmon...now i may just be slow today but the fact that i have no idea who he is tells me he wasn't much on our list. could just be not remembering.

bottom line in last yrs class was that we had limited schollies and a number of position needs and yes did have to pass on a couple of kids that we could have signed had we had room.

ETA..i'm not surei actually answered your question. but i do believe 2 wks before signingday wewouldhave signed damein. johnson chose state. nutt wasn't outside thedoor on the other two apparently but they prob both would have chosen state anyway.

I hope BDJ doesn't mind me using a piece of their article form March 3rd, long before the Ole Miss Commitment.

<p itxtvisited="1">Earlier in his recruiting process, Brown noted he wanted to commit early and give his verbal pledge to Mississippi State. But during his junior day trip to MSU, Brown noted he had to leave early and didn't have the chance to speak with head coach Dan Mullen.</p><p itxtvisited="1">"That kinda made me hold off a little bit," said Brown. "I still like them a lot and they are still my favorite school. They offered me first and showed me the first interest and that was big to me. But I am still waiting to see how things work out and I haven't spoken with anyone from Mississippi State in awhile. I like them and have from the beginning but I just haven't heard from them lately."</p>
Does that sound like something that would be done to a kid you wanted to take a commitment from?
Hold on...I thought Steve Robertson was the epitome of journalistic integrity...

Before heading back to Winona, Chelarvez had the chance to speak to his area recruiting coach and the Bulldogs' head man.

"I talked to Coach (Mark) Hudspeth and Coach (Dan) Mullen," said Brown. "Coach Mullen said they really want me up there and that they think I can help the program. He talked to me about committing and getting some of the other players up there."

The return visit to Starkville comes on the heels of a junior day trip to Ole Miss. </p>

Are you really that guy in Bob Sacamano's 2 videos too because all I can say is, Wow! The fat turd chest bumping Orgeron, and yelling, "say something faggots" at the klanprotest is probably one of the worst people I've ever seen and certainly has no business calling anyone a redneck. So if that is you, Mr. Grant Boone, congrats on being horrible.

Humpers? Good stuff. You're hilarious and I still don't believe you're real.

according to the rightfielder. I guess this is why he sand bagged his 40 time so Mullen would leave him alone. He was obviously pestering the **** out of poor Chief.

Yea my name is definitely not Grant Boone and I never called anybody a ****** in that video **** nugget. But just stay tuned because after your 5 maybe 6 win season (these are on the high end) you'll be more than happy to sign 10 players that are 6'1 190 and run a 4.56. I'll check back later to see what USM's oh I mean MSU's hotlist looks like.

You should probably go check out some 12-step meetings somewhere. Probably.

I dont who slapped Yancy's cock out of your mouth, but you sure are getting chippy over here you steaming pile of rhino excrement. I dont give a flying 17 about Chief Brown or any other recruit that signs with Ole Miss, especially the 6 WRs you are going to signthis year that will end up being down field blockers for Whistle Dick #4 that Houston Dale, I mean Nathan Stanley, is going to be handing the ball off to out of the backfield. By the way, you might want to go ahead shoot Nix and text and let him know that Chris Relf is coming to Oxford in November to make him his ***** again.

We aleady have 2 guys committed to us that are similiar to Brown and Arrington is an Msu lean so I think we will be fine without him,but we appreciate your concern for our recruiting efforts.... I don't know why you would want to sign 10 safeties in 1 class....

Just trying to show you boys that danny boy is in way over his head (see this past recruiting class and stay tuned for his upcoming season and recruiting class)before ya'll get your own heads so far buried in the sand. It's obviously too late for that though. As far as Chris Relf and Tyrone go; i'm glad ya'll atleast have something to hang your hat on for the past decade. And no you don't want to sign 10 safeties but you will sign atleast 10 players that are rated well below Mr. Brown.

Did Mullen change his strategy? I thought his strategy was to go after every kid in Mississippi with any chance to play D-1 ball.
He stole about 8-10 kids in MS from USM last year
and this year he's all of a sudden super selective? Not saying you are wrong but its a big strategy change.

Is he going out of state a lot more this year? Because he's going to miss out on a lot of the top players in Mississippi this year, and he has to sign someone.
Seriously? Get the 17 out of here with that.

Seriously, I'll bet Larry Fedora was pissed last year. Mullen is going to cost him his job if he keeps up that strategy.

I was half joking, but I just looked it up and apparently the next best option for Christian Holmes, Jeremy Lee, Dylan Favre, Jamerson Love, Blaine Clausell, and Curtis Virges was USM last year.

Jeffrey Howie had South Florida apparently along with USM. Corvell Harrison-Gay and Jameon Lewis apparently didn't have an offer from USM or anyone else of note. Vic Ballard's next best option was Troy.

Clausell's from Alabama, but Mullen stole a lot of in-state recruits that normally would've signed with USM had he not offered. I'd have been pissed if I was Fedora. Maybe they turn out to be great players, but my point still stands. Mullen must have changed his strategy, because he wasn't nearly as selective with recruits in Mississippi last year.

Again, I was just throwing out a number when I said 8-10, but it might have actually been close to that many that Mullen stole away from USM last year.

I agree that Mullen took a lot of guys that were projects, but he took a lot of guys that are really athletic. Unlike Croom, Mullen wants the best possible athletes. I have no clue about how some of the guys will develop, but a lot of them have a pretty high ceiling. They are just extremely raw. Our class last year wasn't flashy, but I think it will turn out to be pretty solid.

And as far as rankings and offers go, this year's class is far better than last year's. There are a bunch of ranked kids in MS this year. Ole Miss and State will both pull in good classes.

Ironically, almost every player you mentioned has gotten good reviews this summer. I know that the coaches really like Clausell, and Farve, Lewis, Howie, Holmesand Virges have been repeatedly praised by older players on the team. They might turn out to be terrible, but they have turned some heads in summer workouts.

Either way, this whole thread is stupid. It is fun to discuss, but who really cares how many offers the kid has? We won't know how great a player or class is until a few years down the road.

Mullen's record shows that he knows a thing or two about what it takes to win in the SEC and what it takes to come in to a school and turn the tables on an in-state rivalry. Your coach apparently somehow spent 20 years in college football without knowing what a rivalry was about.

If, all recruiting efforts equal, and Nutt and Mullen were both standing outside the door begging, what school do you think these recruits would have picked? Ole Miss fans claim they didn't have a spot for these guys, or they had someone better lined up. I'm just curious.

Damein Robinson
Chad Bumphis
Robert Johnson
James Carmon
Apparently Ole Miss didn't want them and we stole them from USM.....keep thinking that Bruiser.

If you're going to talk **** get your facts straight.... I could be wrong but I believe patdog was talking about what Mullen had accomplished at Florida and if you can't see the progress that Mullen has made with the football program with a hell ofa lot less talent then go back and look at the score of the last egg bowl Croom coached and look atthis past seasonsegg bowl score... I think Mullen gets what it takes to win in the SEC.

A few of the guys we took are projects. But I'd rather go with instate guys that out of state rejects like you guys are. You aren't fooling anybody. Just be gone, you really suck hard. Isn't there an LSU board for you to terrorize? Hogville, if all else fails? Just leave this, we're all onto to your idiocy.

I cant speak to the other 3, but James Carmon wanted to come to Ole Miss worse than Powe wanted a catfish buffet. I will go ahead and save all of you the argument.......Mullen is the best recruiter since Orgeron.
