When did Jeff Scott get benched?

I saw him returning kicks against Missouri, but never really carried the ball (3 carries, 5 yards). Was he benched for ineffectiveness? I have a hard time believing he's healthy enough to return punts, but not get carries out of the backfield.

I think he got injured and then Walton did really well in his absence. They are virtually the same player, and Walton might be a little quicker.

If memory serves correct

He was injured earlier this year. I'Tavius Mathers and Jaylen Walton have been playing so well, he's not getting the bulk of the carries anymore. Walton has the most carries followed by Mathers and then Scott. The interesting thing is Scott has the highest ypc (over 7) and Walton has the worst even though 5 ypc is good.

ETA- Another statistical OM note, Treadwell has 58 catches to Moncrief's 50. I think non OM fans wouldn't realize Treadwell is their leader.

I think you see a large difference is our two coaches with regards to Scott. If Scott was a RB at MSU, I feel like Mullen would insert him back in regardless of how his replacements have performed - "senior running back.. leadership..etc." Freeze isn't like that.

I think that goes back to his recruiting philosophy too. Until this year how many true freshman played? It's been almost automatic that kids redshirt, while 1/2 of Freeze's players have been 1st years. You come to MSU to hopefully make the NFL after you leave with a Master's (for the most part) and you go to Ole Miss to find Jesus and become a 1st round pick after your junior year.

Now, am I complaining? Both have their pros and cons. In that cases of Darius Slay and JRob, I have no defense.
