When did you first think we could win this thing?

Ok, so we go through the season with way more ups than downs but never quite seemed in the LSU/Vandy elite class, then sort of backed that up in Hoover. Then in the regional that darn Central Arkansas team had me questioning if we would even advance. Getting to the Super was the satisfaction point for me. I've said several times that anything else beyond that was gravy. Beating UVA was awesome, but we've all seen teams do that and not advance in Omaha. Of course being matched up with a national seed in the first game was daunting, but when Wes knocked in those two runs in the 8th, I started to dream. Renfroe's catch at the wall made the next 48 hours unbearably slow, but I was confident heading into the IU game. Even when we trailed, I still had that feeling.....and again we came through. I think my moment was Porter's two run single. When he got that hit, I felt like we would win that one, get one this weekend, and yes, win the national championship.

I wish I could say I had faith back in April and May that this was going to happen, but I really didn't see it as realistic until the other night. Now, for all my talk about gravy, I will be disappointed if we don't finish this thing off, because I think we have the team playing the best baseball right now.

I'm still not sure we can win this thing, but that's the MSU fan in me coming out. It's still unfathomable to me that we've gotten this far. I'm just enjoying the ride at this point.

I thought when we beat Oregon State the first time - we could definitely win it. I was going to be happy with a 1-2 type record as a fan. Like shmuley has been saying - house money.

When we saw our side of the bracket I started seeing a possible NC. I even bet $25 on us at 12-1 odds before the first pitch in Omaha.

When Wes knocked in those runs in the 8th was when I started to believe as well. The reaction we had in the stands got several comments from the fans of other teams around us. I damn near jumped out of the stadium.

During the drive back from Omaha I tried to not let my wool grow and about 2 hours in I said 17 it and began to nit a sweater. The USM fans in my family have been laughing at my homerism all week. It has been fun believing it will happen for once.

I felt like we had a good chance after Renfroe caught that last out but it seems whenever we needed some runs we seem to just pull them out of a bag. Rea has been a really clutch hitter.

Very well said. My thoughts pretty much echoed that but I wouldn't allow myself to truly believe until we won today. I'm heading my *** there, too, to see how this all wraps up. God I hope these next couple of days continue to be as magical as the last couple of weeks have been. I really think we can do this.

My dad called me the day before the first game. Said he hoped we would win one game and have a good showing. My immediate reaction was "that sounds awful." That's when I realized I thought we could actually win it all.

when postseason started. I started a thread saying this will be the first of cohens many NC's. I fully intend to bump that on Tuesday.

When Renfroe hit that bomb today I looked at my wife and said "Oh my God, This **** just got real". And that was the first time I actually thought we could win it.

I just hope if we do find a way to win it, that the dumb asses in the stands don't start chanting "SEC SEC SEC". Come on the rest of the conference doesn't give a 17 about us.

I call the **** and the roses. Mullens isnt the guy. He is a terrible coach. Cohen is a top tier coach. I call 'em like I see em.

When Louisville beat Vandy. That plus the emergence of Girodo made me feel like we had as good of a shot as anyone here. Thought LSU was the favorite, but only slightly. Not nearly the 2-1 or 3-1 some thought.

I did

as soon as we beat UVA. Our team is built for this park, offensively. Our pitching staff is one of the best in the nation, overall. Know those two things made me very confident about us making noise.

When we beat Virginia. Somehow...Cohens teams seem to play up at the end of season. I think its mostly mental toughness showing from his philosophy. We look destined...I think we win it all.

The minute Vandy went down our window of opportunity got massive.

I know we didn't play Louisville, but we should be forever grateful for the huge favor they did us.

This was when I let the possibility creep into my mind too. Since we don't parade around made up national championships it was hard for me to dare think of such things.

You got that right. I laughed at the clown on WWL radio New Orleans kept saying State will represent the SEC in the CWS. That's factual but in my mind we are representing State. Screw the SEC. If the corrndogs would have won it he wouldn't have even mentioned the SEC.

Agree. I hope it stays a simple "Maroon" / "White" and there are no O.M.A.H.A. Signs spotted on camera.

This was my feeling too. I've thought for a long time that if we could just find a way to get to Omaha, which is so hard to do, that we could win it because of how much success we have had in the big parks like Hoover and the new one in Omaha.
However, I never thought we had enough sticks to do it but this team is really clutch. Plus Mitchell and Girodo have been unexpectedly awesome.
I don't think I've ever seen a pitcher improve as much as Girodo.

When I first saw us as a Top 5 team in the Baseball America poll. I knew we had upperclassmen who could get on a roll in the postseason.

When we knocked off Virginia a their place

When you can beat the #3 RPI team at their home field the sky is the limit for you.

After sweeping Virginia I felt we had a good chance

Once Renfroe caught that fly ball to beat OSU I suddenly became confident that we have this. It is a weird feeling, but I have never felt so confident abut a MSU team as I do right now

I really thought it would be us vs LSU in the finals. We played lights out at Virginia - we knew what we had with our pitching, but the bats really came alive.

6 of our 9 main batters are hitting better in the tournament than they averaged for the year. We're playing our best ball against the best teams in the nation. That's exactly what it takes to win this thing.
