When do we give up our first TD on a kickoff return this season?

On four kickoffs the average starting field position for one team was on the 25 yard line. I don't know what it is for MSU but it damn sure ain't the 25. We are approaching the point where we might should have open try outs on campus for someone that can just put the ball out of the end zone. There has got to be somebody out of nearly 20K students.

I think college changed to a 1" tee several years ago, but in HS they still use 2".

I agree about the tryouts. It's the one position where you are most likely to find a better player in your student body than on your team.

1) Kick-off from the 40 instead of the 30
2) Smaller ball

When comparing to high school, you also have to consider
1) Kick off from the 40 instead of the 30
2) 2 inch tee vs 1 inch tee
Now, a good kicker can adjust to a 1 inch tee fairly easily, so for the sake of argument we'll throw that out. But the kicking from the 40 issue is still there. So for a guy to be able to put it in the endzone in a college game he has to be able to put it THROUGH the endzone in a high school game.
I'm not excusing our guys because they should be able to do more than they actually can, but the idea that any Joe Blow kicker from any high school can put it in the endzone just isn't true.

is that he kicks pretty good in warmups. Maybe he needs to kick cold - without warming up. Perhaps the Lord only gives him only one or two60 yard kicks per game, and only one or two70 yard kicks per season.
