It used to always be on the try until not too long ago. It was maybe 12-14 years ago they gave the defending team the option.

Seemed like that was usually on the KO. No?

MSU-Auburn 1999. We scored to go up 18-16 and got called for excessive celebration. 15 yard penalty on the PAT took away any chance to go for 2....not wanting to risk a blocked FG return, Jackie just had Wyatt take a knee....

We weren't going to go for 2. We just didn't want to risk getting the PAT blocked.

The Westerfield miss against Arkansas came to mind. You know, the one where he missed the go ahead PAT and we went to overtime, only to lose? But I don't think that we actually had that excuse. He just missed it.

I didn't mind us kneeling it after the 15 yard penalty. But why would you go for 2 if we didn't get the penalty. I would much rather be up 3 than take the odds of not getting the 2 pt conversion and only being up 2.

There was only a couple of seconds left in the game. No way for Auburn to score a FG because there wasn't enough time for them to get into FG range before the clock ran out. Only possible ways for Auburn to score were a TD and/or a returned extra point.

We scored with 19 seconds left. They had time to run a couple of plays and kick.
